To buy a second hand gift?

My dp broke his acoustic guitar when we moved house, and it's never been replaced.

We've set a £50 limit for Christmas presents this year so I can't afford a new one, but I've seen a second hand one for £40 - is it naff to buy a second had gift??

It's in really good condition, has a case and a strap and everything, what do you think?

I would.

We've done a 'secret santa' type thing in our group of baby-friends so we each buy one nice present, instead of lots of naff ones. I have bought a second hand one as I could get more for my money.

I#d say as long as you don't try to pass it off as new, it's fine.

Go for it.

I buy presents on ebay all the time. Not broken and trashed obviously, but people get rid of stuff in great condition that they're just not using any more. And gave DH an ebay guitar for his birthday last year!

Musical instruments you can def buy second hand - after all, you wouldn't hear someone describing a 300 yr old violin as "second hand" would you?!

Instruments are one of those things that are very often bought second hand. I would too.

Yeah, I'm not going to try and pass it off as new, it's in great condition but I think you can tell it's not new.

& great point Bramshott!!
