to feel put out about pregnant teacher?

I'm more after a reality check from your lovely ladies than a rant, honest. DD1 is in year 2 and her teachers have a job share, one Mon to Wed and the other does Thur to Fri. No major issues there but we've just learned that the teacher doing Thur & Fri is pregnant, baby due in April. I can't help feeling a bit put out because she knew she was pregnant when she started the job, but at the same time I feel IABU because such is life and teachers are entitled to have children too!!! So, whilst I battle with the different thoughts in my head, could you please help me put this into perspective? I mean, they're going to have a new part time teacher for just three months at the end of the year, it is SATS as well, what value can the children extract from this? Can this change affect their learning negatively?

Actually the teacher is unreasonable. Surely the summer holiday is sufficient maternity leave, after all I'm sure she'll be doing nothing during that time. Grin

I think it is difficult to be objective when it is your child's education. My dd has seen her teacher for about 10 days maximum this year so far. There are times when I worry that it must be something very serious for her to be off. But other times I feel pissed off when dd comes home again and says they spent the day coluring in and her reading book has not been changed again as there has been no teacher.

Not having the regular teacher is one ting but having NO teacher is quite another.

They get in whoever they can on cover, it is not an easy school and with no regular teacher the kids are becoming more difficult making it even more difficult to get supply.

Any how I have now finished my work so can get a whole four hours sleep before starting again.
