So went for a wander around the new pet superstore to get out of the house for half an hour (I know very rock and roll). Have been thinking about getting a fish for dd do just looking to get some ideas. If you've never been to these places they have loads if animals as well as everything you don't need, to spoil your pet and welcomes pets to come in, also has a grooming area and a vets.

I'm used to the whole shopping park experience, plus add in almost everyone had at least two kids with them and some had dogs also and still fine. That is til you actually try and walk around the shop, I've never felt like giving a sarky comment to so many people cause they were all just so rude and selfish. Pushing, not letting people through etc, so was it this bad because it was a pet shop and I wasn't someones pet or am I just in a bad mood?

People are rude where ever you go, not because it is a pet shop but yes, you do sound in a bad mood.

SuePurblybilt · 14/11/2010 17:33

That's what all shops are like surely? I've personally never been so close to homicide as I have at a car boot sale. People are often rude and thoughtless, I don't think owning a pet helps or hinders one way or another.

faverolles · 14/11/2010 17:34

Sounds like a normal shopping trip to me!
That's why I shop online.

not restricted to pet owners. humans in general.

GrimmaTheNome · 14/11/2010 17:41

I've never noticed anything like that at our pet superstore.

Maybe its this time in Nov - probably prime time for people who don't like shopping doing xmas shopping - hoping to avoid crowds but failing?

Come to that, I can't say I've noticed this sort of rudeness while shopping in general - maybe there are regional variations.

LoveBeingAMummy · 14/11/2010 17:46

In that case Grimma where are you so I can shop near you in future.

I notice noone has said iabu, I will therefore assume I am right but only in relation to shopping in general.

Lancashire.

Or maybe I just exude some sort of 'keep outta my space' aura Grin

LoveBeingAMummy · 14/11/2010 18:12

Can you teach me that, I used to have it but it's gone Sad

Sunday is "rude shoppers" day generally.

nothing makes me gnash my teeth together more than a spot of Sunday shopping.

What about those families that are like a huge hub of people spiralling out from the middle of an aisle, impossible to get past?

avoid, avoid, avoid.

Vallhala · 14/11/2010 18:31

I don't notice this in pet stores.

That's because 90% of the time I'm on my hands and knees fussing someone's dog and the other 10% of the time I have my eyes at dog-level and not human-face-level. :o

prettyfly1 · 14/11/2010 18:36

It isnt just pet shops. I had to stop yesterday and moved to the side with my eleven month old in his push chair to get something out and this girl shoved me out of the way then pointed her finger and said "you people all think you can do whatever you like and you are the only people in the world". I am rarely mean but she really ticked me off so I smiled sweeter and informed her that if she were to consider losing a few pounds off her posterior she might find the two metres of space she had to get through easier to deal with Grin. Naughty but I appreciated it.

Tis just the world of consumerism I think.

prettyfly1 · 14/11/2010 18:36

sweetly btw

Ormirian · 14/11/2010 18:37

" or am I just in a bad mood?"

Yes and very silly.

narkypuffin · 14/11/2010 18:37

Sunday is a bad time for shopping generally. Too many people out pottering and not paying attention. The only way I do food shopping on a sunday is online.

I hate pet shops that sell live animals though so YABU for going to one.

emptyshell · 14/11/2010 18:38

Oooooh so Nativity-Play-Part-Teacher-Bash season is over and we're onto Animal-Lover-Bash-Fun-Time at the moment.

I went to Tesco today... rude people everywhere... you'd think frozen sausage lovers would be nicer people!

I went to Ikea last week... rude people everywhere... I expected more from flat pack furniture lovers!

theevildead2 · 14/11/2010 18:42

Well you were going to buy a pet.. so does that make you instantly rude and animal obsessed? i think you'll find most people you know have pets and you probably think they're OK..

Sick of the animal bashing threads.

phipps · 14/11/2010 18:43

I think it is clear that I thought you were being unreasonable.

SuePurblybilt · 14/11/2010 18:44

If the people there were anything like the ones in my local town who turn up to the opening of new stores then I'd suggest that they were finding it all a bit of a struggle. People who think that's a good day out are often a bit odd.

lovebeingamummy - the new Pets at Home in Leicester by any chance?!

We went yesterday, to actually buy some pet food but really wished I hadnt. Seemed to be huge numbers of families just using the shop as a free zoo/farm trip. Pretty annoying for people actually trying to buy stuff Grin. Perhaps that's why they seemed a bit rude?

LoveBeingAMummy · 14/11/2010 21:57

Ballstoit has hit it on the head and therefore proves I am completly reasonable Grin
