Specifically that spelling.

I don't know if it is just prevalent in the west country, but I know 2 women at work (2 different workplaces) in the last year who have called their newborn baby daughters Lexxii.

It is (a) a crap name - if you want Lexy or whatever as a nickname fine, but don't saddle a kid with this daft name for life. Call her Alexa or summat and (b) spelling it with tho x's and two i's is utterly hideous and shows the parents as being thick and/or porn fans.

Middle name Carrington?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 13/11/2010 01:42

eh???

scotsgirl23 · 13/11/2010 01:50

Oh lord, visions of some poor child called Benbecula.........

ChippingIn · 13/11/2010 02:03

Are you really too young for references to Dynasty?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 13/11/2010 02:05

we didn't have a TV until I was 15......(and I'm 31 now so you can do the maths - was an 80's one wasn't it??)

ChippingIn · 13/11/2010 02:09

Yes it was - I was very young at the time and never watched it, but kind of grew up on the comments about it!

ChippingIn · 13/11/2010 02:09

I think we are the only ones still on MN! That might tell us something... namely it's time we weren't!

LOL

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 13/11/2010 02:17

LOL - you're quite right. I'm just having a last fag then going to stick the dishwasher on and head up to bed

ChippingIn · 13/11/2010 02:22

I hope you sleep well :)

I think I'll make a cup of tea and do the same - 'see' you tomorrow!

PyramidofScotcheggs · 13/11/2010 02:26

Awful name, but better than Millie/Tillie/Mollie/Hollie/Lollie/Collie.

Very silly names.
Mollie/Hollie/Tillie/Millie?

Any chance that will be spelled properly?

Nope.
Mollie?>
Hollie?

Lucie

What is it with the ie?
Sillie made up spelling.
Poor Mollie/Lollie/Hollie/Lucie/.

ChippingIn · 13/11/2010 02:29

Pyramid (who were you before 'that' thread?)

I like most of those names - but prefer the y ending.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 13/11/2010 02:31

isn't Lucie the French and Czech form of Lucia???

PyramidofScotcheggs · 13/11/2010 02:40

Ah, but the Y endimg would be boring.
You need the ie ending.
Millie, Lollie, lucie, Mollie.
And yes, it's spelled with a Y.
Making it up with an ie just makes it silly.
I mean sillie.

I want another just so I can call her Maud, and have her be miserable.

It's all so funny(funnie) and jolly(jollie) and nice.
Why would anyone use those daft spellings?

JJ17 · 13/11/2010 03:31

It means "word" just gross

cumbria81 · 13/11/2010 06:07

I was at school with a Lexi and she was a totally cow so that name will always have bad associations for me.

AlpinePony · 13/11/2010 08:12

YABVU - it was in the papers only last week that Hooters would be opening in Bristol and I'm led to believe there are many lap-dancing clubs in Plymouth whose poles need wrapping. Where else would these girls come from?

Chil1234 · 13/11/2010 08:14

LEXXII is Roman for 72. (Nearly....)

TheBolter · 13/11/2010 08:18

Lexi is, AFAIR, the name given to the daughters of Alex Curran and Amanda Holden. 'Nuff said.

TheBolter · 13/11/2010 08:18

Lexxii is just criminal.

ForMashGetSmash · 13/11/2010 08:20

I know a Lexis....the parent wanted to name her after the car....I think she meant Lexus.

Feel for her rather.

stealthpony · 13/11/2010 08:42

Uuuurgh I hate it when names get "chavved" up. Lexxii, Jordin, Jay-din, etc

ChaoticChristmasAngelCrackers · 13/11/2010 11:05

Grin @ Carrington as middle name.

I like Lexi but Lexxii is a bit too much.

emptyshell · 13/11/2010 12:42

It reminds me a bit of online games where someone's taken the name they want - so they shove extra Xs in and double the final letters of their name to be honest.

GrendelsMum · 13/11/2010 12:50

Well, she can always call herself Lexi or Alexia if she wants, when she's a bit older. I think a lot of children who feel their names are a bit too unusual do adjust them as they get older.

I know a lovely Lexi, but it's always struck me as slightly amusing that she researches dyslexia.

princessparty · 13/11/2010 13:01

YABU she can always change it if she doesn't like it.
