Pamper party for 4 year olds

DD1 has been invited to a pamper party for the 5th birthday of one of her new schoolfriends. It's at a local hair salon. The invitation says they will get a hair-do, manicure and makeup or facepaint.

I have said she could go because I know she will enjoy it Hmm and all her new friends are going.

The idea of 4 year old with a face full of (professionally applied!) slap makes me cringe but I would happily let her have her face painted like a butterfly/Spiderman. Am I being a bit pfb? Is make-up so different or is a pamper party just a form of dressing up?

I was thinking of writing NO MAKE-UP on the RSVP/consent form. AIBU?

Ugh. Don't get me wrong I love seeing little DC wearing facepaint that they chose themselves and running round pretending to be a cat/spiderman/butterflies etc but there is something incredibly creepy and icky about little girls wearing a full face of professional make up.

That said, I have been known to paint DD's (3) nails which she loves and only ever do this if she brings me the bottle of shocking pink nail varnish she favours. She also has the habit of stealing my lipgloss and applying it across her mouth, nose and chin herself. Wouldn't dream of doing it myself. Would be weird and almost like saying "DD, you're so ugly you need make up" when she doesn't.

Oh yeah didn't see the date.

Surprised people feel so strongly about this! My girls are older (7 & 9), but I'd have no problem with this. You said your DD will have fun. I know my 2 would have loved this at that age.

I have just come across this thread, although last posted a year ago!

My child has been invited to one of these pamper parties, and I am wondering if to let her go or not, as she is only four years old!

They will be having facials etc. Plus I will have to sign a disclaimer!

I am torn in two, as I don't want her not to go if all her friends are attending, but at the same time I feel it is a little too grown up.
