To tell off a 'Chugger' for calling me love.

I've just had a guy ,about 25 years old, come to my door. He seemed to be trying to get me to sign up to support a charity.

His opening line was 'Hello Love'. Mine was 'Don't call me love' and he looked really shocked!

I'm 44 - you can't call me 'love' unless you're a family member or at least 20 years older than me!!

Is it just me?
Is it a Southern thing - I'm from London.
Is it an age thing?
Maybe I'm just an old grouch?

I get called "duchess" by the window cleaner - all very Eastenders!

I went off on a chuggar once.

To be fair I was 8.5 months pregnant, it was raining and I was lugging shopping home.

He started his spiel. I snapped 'Piece of advice. Do not stop heavily pregnant women who are lugging shopping bags. You might get a worse response than this one!!'

He looked very scared as he backed off nodding. Grin

Tee2072 Good on you, I would have loved to have seen his face!

Eldritch:

"Worst line they have tried on me when I politely declined (had answered door with baby perched on hip)was "so, don't you care about sick kids then?", "

I've come across several who do that Angry It annoyed me so much I resorted to saying, 'no, not especially', and closing the door in their face.

I should add - in case people think I'm evil - I do care about sick children.

I think they must all have been on the same training course. I got stopped last week and called "love". I couldn't stand it, either (south England).
