to be extremely pissed off with eBay

Some tit won my Phil & Teds E3 on ebay.

They then decided they didn't want to pay for it, giving loads of rubbish excuses - "oh I have already paid for it" etc - before admitting they didn't want it any more.

Apparently I am unable as a seller to leave negative feedback for this arse.

I was allowed to set up an unpaid item case, which went in my favour and I was refunded the fees. However this 'strike' against the fake buyer will not be displayed!

What is the fucking point of the feedback system if eBay protect the dodgy customers in order to increase their profits.

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH FUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKKK OFFFFFFFFFFF!!!

YANBU - this happened to me and I opened an upaid case only for them to deregister their account!

nickelbangBANGbang · 09/11/2010 17:51

yes, that is bloody annoying.

because sellers aren't allowed to flag up fake buyers, or bad buyers, but buyers are allowed to flag up bad sellers.

buyers should definitely be flagged if there is a proven dispoute against them.

MaDuggar · 09/11/2010 17:53

The strike will cause problems for them though. Any sensible seller will have their settings to ban anyone with so many unpaid strikes. I have many on my blocked bidders list for this reason.

ENormaSnob · 09/11/2010 18:34

Yanbu

eBay is shit for sellers IMO

LittleMissHissyFit · 09/11/2010 18:47

Ebay is not too great for buyers either...

P wants a cheap laptop. 1st one he got had fake software on it and the guy didn't have the money to refund us, so gave it to us for £50. It'll get sorted out at some point, he can use it for parts for another laptop in perfect condition that blew up.

So he bought a nice little one described as perfect condition, £290 + £20 P&P. We noticed that the seller was in NW london and he was due to go up there anyway.

So he picks up the laptop, pays the cash, opens it later, the laptop is bashed to bits, cracks, scratches and doesn't switch off.

So he got his money back, minus £30, which he kept pending the ebay fees. He said he'd refund the money later.

so I emailed the resolution centre. They must have contacted him, i have no way of knowing what they said though as they have not contacted me. He shouted at P told him he'd not get his money back and if he ever came round his house, he'd show him the meaning of broken!

I just slapped some serious negative feedback on his arse. To the effect that he with held our money and threatened violence.

Incidentally, this clown wanted to cancel the purchase, but I replied saying I wouldn't cancel it without getting my £30 back.

CrazyPlateLady · 09/11/2010 19:35

YANBU.

I am selling on ebay at the moment. I had my first non paying bidder recently. I gave her 3 weeks all together to pay £5 fucking quid for a book. Of course I cannot leave anything other than positive feedback though.

One woman won 4 of my DVD boxsets last week, she outbid everyone else and bid several times, she hasn't paid though or replied to my message.

I sold a set of 7 DVD boxsets. Cost me over £7 to post them second class standard delivery, ebay only allow you to charge £1 p & p on the DVD category, whether its 1 DVD or a boxset.

I have complained to ebay but they haven't bothered to reply either.

FanjoKazooie · 09/11/2010 20:00

It is bloody ridiculous. That's awful LittleMiss, what a shithead that bloke must be. Just think, karma.

MaDugger, good point, I will have a look at my settings, but the problem with this buyer is she only has a feedback of 4, so I may be her first strike. Probably she just starts up a new account everytime she gets too many!

CrazyPlateLady Why bid when you are not going to pay, especially annoying when you pip other bidders. How annoying. I had the problem of ridiculous pre-set postage prices being too low recently, am trying to remember how I got round it. Possibly change the postage type to 'sellers standard rate' or something? Or look if there is a separate 'box set' category with higher limits? Can't be sure but maybe give it a go.

I sold my Bumbo Baby seat on there. Clicked on it and realised the winning bidder lived in fucking Cyprus even though I dont post internationally in my settings.

She hadn't checked beforehand with me what postage costs would be (in fact I would have told her I dont post to Cyprus)

She begged me to get her a quote. £35, more than I got for the Bumbo, which went for £22.

She said "oh no, I can't possibly pay that, I can buy one here in Cyprus for less than that".

Well just fucking do that then Angry Hmm

TattyDevine · 09/11/2010 20:07

I still think its a semi-blessing that its gone to shit for sellers. Its really hard to swindle someone if they pay Paypal, because paypal generally just refund for a dispute as long as you return the goods, regardless of their returns policy. If stuff gets lost in the post, even if they say they "can't be held responsible", they are, unless they have sent it recorded in which case they still have to sort it for you.

Also, it means you are less likely to fart around selling old tat on there like the good old days, because its just not worth it. I used to have a room full of "stuff to eBay" which I never got round to and when it started getting harder to sell stuff without complications I just gave most of it to charity. I just got sick of getting hassle.

Once I sold 2 x NCT nursing bras which had been worn only twice or 3 times and washed once. They were £28 bras that I sold for about a fiver each. They were as described but the buyer still contacted me and said the black one had a little bit of pilling on the underside of the strap. (Bear in mind here I sold them as "used" not "new"). WTF did she want to use them for, a porn movie? Hmm Anyway, as they were "as described", I said, you post them back to me and cover the cost of postage and I'll refund you.

Never heard from her again, she was obviously trying it on for a discount.

InVinoFerretsAss · 09/11/2010 20:23

Ooh! Somewhere for me to vent!
I have had mostly good experiences on ebay but recently I ran into a dodgy buyer.

I listed an immaculate pair of used boots. During bidding someone asked me a question about width so I posted an answer with the measurement of the top of the boot and said that they "are a fairly slim fitting boot".
Winning bidder took 5 days to pay, during which time I checked her feedback and noticed that she recently sold an identical pair to the ones she bought from me for less money.

She eventually paid and I sent them off. She contacted me today to ask for a refund saying the boots are too tight and I didn't mention that in my description. Hmm

I know she's going to leave me negative feedback no matter what I do and I can't say anything about her. Just a complete pain in the arse and it's only when you're in a situation like this that you realise how heavily ebay favours the buyer!

ENormaSnob · 09/11/2010 20:38

Invino, dares you to tell her she must have really chunky legs!

StealthPoHoHoHo · 09/11/2010 20:43

Wow, after years of mainly buying I have recently been selling loads (mainly university books we don't need any more) and have realised how lucky I've been not to have had any problems

InVinoFerretsAss · 09/11/2010 22:39

ENormaSnob the thought did cross my mind! Maybe I'll put that as my response to her feedback Grin

igetmorelovefromthecat · 09/11/2010 23:48

I sold on ebay for a living for years...and this is exactly the reason why I stopped. It is bollocks.

TiraMissYou · 10/11/2010 17:03

Ah, yes, the collection of stuff 'to ebay' that somehow I always think will pay for the whole of christmas. Off to the charity shop once again me thinks.

Although I did have a very good experience of selling my Phil & Teds on ebay.

LOL at Tattydevine's nursing bras "WTF did she want to use them for, a porn movie?" Grin

Mammie81 · 10/11/2010 17:45

Im currently selling a BNWT £49.99 Next suit jacket for 99p.

Cheeky mare just emailed me to ask where the trousers are. Biscuit

FanjoKazooie · 10/11/2010 22:06

And can you not chuck in a free cami top to go with your suit jacket Mammie! Honestly, some people!

There are some top quality people on ebay , but apparently also some total tossers!

Oh by the way, I looked at my settings today and you are not allowed to exclude buyers who have 1 unpaid item against them. Ebay sets the minimum at 2. All their minimum levels for similar stuff are very generous towards buyers. It's absolutely ridiculous!

OP posts:
CrazyPlateLady · 11/11/2010 09:35

I have just opened my dispute about my non paying bidder. She will have 4 unpaid items against her in 1 go as she was suppose to be paying for 4 boxsets. Now I have to wait until the 15th before I can offer them as second chance and hope that the other bidders are still interested. This bidder has cost me £70. Angry

I have had a message from ebay warning me about another member, but they can't tell me why. The name looks familiar as they have obviously contacted me but ebay refuses to tell me why they are warning me against this bidder.

I have also had a message from another member who want me to change an item to buy it now so she can get it at the starting price. I have 4 people watching it, she can get on her bike!

Ebay haven't bothered to reply to my complaint about feedback or ridiculously low p & p either that doesn't actually cover anywhere near the p & p that we have to pay.

I'm getting fed up of the whole thing now.

Saltire · 11/11/2010 09:43

I always send things recorded delivery now. In the summer I had a buyer open a dispute saying the itme was "not as described" and claiming that the dvd was scratched, and loose int eh box and that the cover was ripped.

I replied with "that's amazing, I must contact royal mail and thank themf or the amazing service as that parcel was posted 2nd class delivery at 5pm last night. However, I will also mention to them that I want a refund for recorded delivery as it appears that you didn't sign for the parcel"

He emailed me back and said he'd got my dvd muddled up with a cd that he'd bought Hmm

FanjoKazooie · 18/11/2010 19:32

OMFG. It just gets better.

I opened an 'unpaid item' case with ebay and won, and was repaid my fees.

The twunt non-buyer has now left ME negative feedback, saying 'slow service'. WTF???

OP posts:
CrazyPlateLady · 18/11/2010 20:19

I won my non paying e bayer case and I got a message from ebay telling me that the non paying bidder wouldn't be able to leave me feedback. This was after the case was closed though, was your case not quite closed?

I also left them negative comments under postive feedback. I know no one will see it unless they read it but there are 4 comments in capital letters warning others that this person is a non paying bidder. Ebay can fuck off if they think they can just take away a sellers right to leave negative feedback, I'll just post a negative message instead.

Can you contact ebay and ask them to remove the feedback seeing as it was a non paying bidder?

I also had a message saying that ebay had retracted someones bid from one of my items. I had no contact from this bidder. I thought only sellers could retract bids, not the bidder go straight to ebay and cut out the seller completely! Angry

I offered my items second chance, it was too late, non of them wanted them so I have had to relist them and so far they don't have bids again.

So fucked off with ebay, who still haven't bothered to reply to my complaint. Angry
