Ocado - is there any point to it? Shall I just go to Morrisons?

Just tried to put together an Ocado order. For the first time.
Why am I bothering? Morrison's has everything I need. And it's across the road.
Please someone SELL me something to make the boring slog worthwhile. Someone once mentioned vanilla bean paste...

A no brainer really, I absolutely adore Ocado and I find my weekly shop cheaper than buying in store as I certainly only stick to the list. I won't even start on the Morrisons debate, I hate it. Ocado have some good offers and their pricing is the same as Tesco. Own branded products are of good quality. When you buy their fruit and veg you know they will be of good quality. I normally order online the night before for delivery next day and they always have slots. I also love the Ocado delivery pass and the fact that the slots are an hour window so no need to wait for two hours like Tesco. I have never had a substitution ever. Does this show that I love Ocado btw

You get a bit of paper with Ocado, which tells you when things need using by, sort of like this:

Monday 1/1/12 - lamb neck fillet, Petits Filous

Tuesday 2/1/12 - Galia melon, Ocado Wensleydale, Innocent Veg Moussaka

So you can plan easily when to use things, and theoretically never have a smelly fridge.

I have also been thinking about trying ocado. I saw their annual delivery pass for £39.99 introductory offer. Then I found 'waitrose deliver' which is free delivery anyway. What's the difference in terms of products and service? Confused

I use Ocado when I have a code occasionally, but do my main shopping at Morrisons mostly. Sometimes use Asda as well.

Ocado has some lovely stuff(no local Waitrose here), lovely pizza, lovely breads. Everything has been fab quality and great customer service.

But Morrisons would be cheaper - the products they price match too also seem to be a bit ££ compared to what I would usually pay. Eg it's no use price matching the full price Sacla pesto - I only buy it when it's a third off anyway, IYKWIM.

I like my local Morrisons TBH, fruit and veg pretty good, deli meats better than Sainsburys IMO and much cheaper.

cupofcoffee - i found the waitrose website hard to use and gave up. most of the food is the same as its waitrose - though ocado are starting to do some of their own. ocado has the sort of service/quality you would expect from waitrose

I use ocado and I do like it but it is very expensive compared to other supermarkets.

Also, I don't know what was said in the deleted message, but it is a fact that waitrose were recently pulled up by the ASA for making misleading claims about how their pigs were raised, and the advert was withdrawn.

SkyBluePearl · 10/11/2010 19:29

but waitrose is soooo expensive and morrissons is soo reasonable. Are there any other shops that deliver?

No need to look for a parking space. I really, really like our local Morrisons - the staff there are nice too - but sometimes the carpark is full to the brim and then you feel really disappointed that you've schlepped all the way there. With Ocado or any online grocer, you never have to worry about parking charges....or whether there are any trolleys left. Or how long the checkout queue is.

I wonder if this, and the motorist threads, are just sahm/wohm by proxy. I work, Ocados are a godsend as my "free" time is very limited and better used elsewhere.

I think if I didn't work ( as was once the case) then I'd go to the local supermarket as my free time was more abundant.
