Or was this a wind up for telly?

I work in a very posh area of London but live in a grottier bit. I finished work one day last week and was getting on bus with ds in pushchair and was followed on by a lady, also with small child in pushchair (which was big and shiny). The lady appeared to be quite well to do and looked quite posh. Anyway about ten minutes into the journey she picked her small son out of the pushchair and sat with him the window (not unusual).
What happened next was, IMO unusual. She burst into a rendition of 'day-oh, morning come and me want to go home' complete with finger clicking and hand actions. All other passengers and small children were quite shocked. She had a quite posh 'churchy' singing voice, which I felt, added a new twist to the song. It was pretty loud.
So aibu in thinking no-one behaves like this really and it must have been a wind up for the telly. It was a bit awkward to say the least.

:o she was probably just trying to entertain her child and forgot she was surrounded by other adults. I bet she was mortified when she realised! It could ahve just been an extension of chatting to the baby in the trolley as you go round the supermarket

either that or she puts entertaining her child top of her list and doesn't care what others think - good for her :)

I have to confess since it happened I have been hoping she will be on my bus again, it really made me laugh when I got off :)

I think it is great that she can forget about who is arround and get on entertaining her baby, really sweet.

DD4 sang "1.2.3.4.5 Once I caught a fish alive!" with her loudest possible voice the other day in the bus and was applauded by the other passengers. she was Shock when she realised everyone had heard herSmile

I wouldn't have thought twice about doing that myself to entertain DS, but then I am sometimes considered a bit odd.

And yes, I have a running conversation with him round the supermarket. He's 5 months. Grin

I think it was just surprising as if you had looked at everyone who got on the bus, you would never in a million years have picked her to burst into song. The best bit was definitely the 'tarantula' line :)
