I mean, who is our world of plenty needs more crap or more of anything really eve n if it is nice .It's so pointless-you buy me something, I buy you something.

I've siphoned off 75% of what my kids' get (not a lot compared to many) for the last few years and they've never even noticed.

I would genuinely rather people didn't bother for me. If I want something, I'll get it myself.

I liberated myself from cards years ago and this is the next step.
Henceforth it shall be a time of charity, good cheer and lots of nice food, drink and long woalks but...NOWT ELSE!

why on earth is it unreasonable?

moondog · 06/11/2010 22:14

No. I'm not being snotty about things. I like nice things and happily spend a lot of money on them.
i just mean the tsunami of crap people buy and give at Christmas when i would estimate 90% of it isn't welcome or wanted.
I don't want

toiletries
crap wine
crap chocolates
stuff to wear or stuff for my house (it will not be right for me)
Maybe books or CDs but I'd get those for myself.
What is the point my dh getting me something as we pool all our money.

Ity's just so pointless.
