my son started school in september (full time begining of october), so far £2 for the school disco, donations for harvest festival, make a 'gift' cup to sell, now sell 3 raffle books £1 each, £1.50 to see santa.

in real terms it's only £6.50 (not including the cost for the food donations) but it is scaring me that this amount is alot over a short time of him being at school

I assure you that's just the beginning.
Your'e a novice, soon you will know what you should or shouldn't pay for. If i was given three raffle books i would only buy one and shove the others in the kitchen drawer.
I have three children and it can all get out of hand.

They really start going for it this half-term. It starts with school photos, then prizes for Christmas raffle, more disco tickets, make a costume for a theme day, collections after school productions, coffee mornings, some TA will be leaving so there'll be a whip-round, table -top sale will mean more money and the loss of most of a Saturday, fill a shoe-box, etc. etc.

I have 3 at 3 different schools. Sad

This term does seem to be the worst for it all.
It does all add up and you realise that if you fall behind you can easily end up owing £50+

Only 6.50. Just wait - you'll be asked to sponsor the bouncy castle at the summer fair for a hundred next
