Our DSs know to get the cake / pastry forks out to eat cakes etc with.

FindingGuysMojo · 02/11/2010 12:15

well if you are going to have cake/pastry forks in the house then all members of the family should be free to use them without fear of abuse or repercussions.

TrillianAstra · 02/11/2010 12:19

"well if you are going to have cake/pastry forks in the house then all members of the family should be free to use them without fear of abuse or repercussions."

I agree.

DP also likes to use a fork to eat cakey things.

We don't own pastry forks though. You are the ponce for owning them.

Rocketbird · 02/11/2010 12:26

Ah, now where's RatherbeonthePiste when you need her. She knows all about sporks/knorks/spifes/sporfs.

Does he also drink his tea from a cup and saucer with his little finger sticking out? a la Hyacinth Bucket?

If so, then he might be a little bit poncey.

If not, then he is merely being tidy and not a slob mucky pup.

LinzerTorte · 02/11/2010 14:39

Poncey isn't the first word that springs to mind when I think of your DH. Grin OTOH I haven't seen him eating a cupcake...

I've got used to seeing friends eat brownies, muffins, etc. with pastry forks. But I'm not sure I will ever get used to seeing my ILs eat mince pies with a fork (and straight from the case). That is just wrong.

CyberspaceCinders · 02/11/2010 14:54

I love pastry forks. But DH would probably not use them. But then, he doesn't really eat cakes!

LinzerTorte · 02/11/2010 15:01

Well, that's Austrians for you. Smile

Mind you, I think I've been here too long - I just can't drink instant coffee any more (but DH can; sometimes I think he's more British than I am).

dementedma · 02/11/2010 15:21

6 foot 8, likes fresh coffee, exquisite table manners? Hmmmmm, I feel a bit of stalking coming on. Where do you live Cinders?

CyberspaceCinders · 02/11/2010 17:34

What's wrong with using fingers to eat cake?

It's cake, not bloody spaghetti.

Purplebuns · 02/11/2010 20:30

I think I am a ponce..
I have pastry forks and I can't even make instant coffee,(everyone tells me it is rubbish when I make it) never mind drink it!
Yet I can do 'Proper' coffee, right to grinding the beans myself if I am with my Dad. Proper coffee is the only coffee for me and decaf at that. :(

Actually this is all my Dads fault, he had me grinding and brewing coffee from such a tender age
