DD3 AND DS2 were invited to a halloween party by their friends who are also siblings.

Loads of excitement and all dressed up in their costumes and off they go with dh who dropped them off at the very large house .

Being good mannered little party guests , they took sweets and party stuff for their hosts as a "thank you for inviting us"

Once there an hour , dd3 txt requesting that we pick them and another friend up and bring them home.

The party was in the garage ..and they were all cold ....and there was no music or games so the kids got bored.
UNSUPRISINGLY a fight had broken out between two of the older boys 11 YEAR OLDS.

However the "adults" were in the house .
The kids were given a donut as party food.

Now aibu to think , wtf ???? who has a party for children in a garage , (in october (scotland its very cold now)without music or games ...and leaves them with almost no adult supervision.

If i knew the party would have been like this , i would have had one for the kids myself (like i usually do ).

I once went to a party in a garage when I was about 9. It was in the summer though and there was music. I seem to remember that the garage was huge but I'm sure it was just standard size. Oh and there was food too.

But I digress. That party sounds dull and cold :-(

My friend makes people eat in the garage when she has a party. I only went once. There's definately something wrong with people like that.

scurryfunge · 31/10/2010 22:22

Yes, doesn't sound like much fun....I have held one in the garage before but totally supervised and we had a snooker table and pinata in there for entertainment.

We had a bbq going outside too.

The rest of the Halloween games were held indoors.

Sounds like a crap party.

A big bin of water for bobbing apples and a disco in the daark.
No food as we were eating all the sweets we had just got trick or treating

Who's in the house?

droves · 31/10/2010 22:28

I have no problem with partys in garage in summer , when its warm.... but its cold .

spent many a teenage year doing the garage party thing .... sort of bar-b-q without the food

not suitable for 10-12 year olds though.

Confused What were the parents thinking?

Hully , the parents , the parents family and some of the adults friends.... think the children were shoved in garage to get them out of the way....so they could get drunk socialise.

I was led to believe it was a kiddies party and the invites were written out by the children themselves.

Im actually a little bit angry (at myself), because i wouldnt have left my dc there had i known otherwise.

This is why I don't understand why people have halloween parties in the first place. What's the celebration for? Halloween is just meant to be a bit of fun at home.
