To be disappointed that we havent had any trick or treaters?

ds (5) went to a halloween party last night and has been v excited about trick or treaters coming round tonight. he tipped loads of sweets and lolly's into a bowl and has sat with it on his lap waiting for someone to call. he went up to bed really disappointed that they havent been. [hsad]

trick or treaters usually start here from about 5pm most around 6-7 so shouldn't be too late?

Luckily no one came last night-it isn't a moveable date!

I send them away regardless of the date but then I hate the whole thing with a passion.

We have a bucket of iced water at the ready. At the first sound of "trick or treat", we will say trick and throw the whole lot over the first one to call. Well, that is what I would like to do. Which part of trick or treating isn't at best begging and at worst blackmail??

Stupid American idea.

We haven't had any for 8 years, which was when we moved here as we're hard to find. Each year the pumpkin is up, sweets ready and no one comes. There is a new street light outside the hedge this year so maybe someone will come. If not I'd better look up the Slimming World syns in treat size chocolate buttons!

My children both hate me intensely every Halloween because I have never and will never let them go trick or treating.

I can live with that - it never lasts long.

I'm in Aberdeen they are going out tonight! Putting my pumpkin outside! Wish I bought the ceramic one I seen last week!

We've got no immediate neighbours apart from an old couple so no one comes down our lane to call for trick or treating. Ds is going to a halloween party ( really not that he wants to go) and dd wants to eat the things for trick or treating just on the really vague off chance that someone calls.

I really should organise to call at a couple of houses hext year and vice versa.

Live with it SandStorm-you eventually get through to the other side when they are too old. It doesn't blight their lives!

well, we had loads. ds and i carved the pumpkin this afternoon, put it on our doorstep and ds answered the door with his knights armour on [hgrin]

Dcs went trick/treating with a friend. Found stacks of pumpkin houses and a bucket of sweeties. The pavement was thick with others in costume. Recognised a lot of children from their schools.

Then we came home and loads called at ours. We didn't even have a pumpkin, just scary flashing eyes.

The dcs love it, really festive mood around here.

Well anyone knocking on our door will be sent away empty handed, so dont be disappointed. Bloody stupid idea.

Was connecting our front door to the mains electricity going a bit too far?

I have never liked the idea of it, but have succumbed this year. I have to say, in our village it was really quite nice. Those people who wanted ToTers had pumpkins and the like outside. None of the children out were visiting any houses that didn't want them. Result - everyone happy and enjoying it. (Except me who forgot her umbrella)

I went over to SIL with DS and he went trick or treating with cousins but I left a pumpkin outside mine with glow sticks inside saying please take one and not one was taken - was very disappointed for some unknown reason!
