....the ticket agencies should have been able to cope with the demand? Surely, if you are offereing over a million seats for sale and you create that sort of PR storm ahead of the selling time you sort of know what to expect?

Timing it for the post-school run was also an act of sheer genuis!

Venues/bands like touts because it means they're less likely to end up with unsold seats. It's not illegal although it's arguably a grey area - the government looked into it a couple of years ago and kept it legal as the venues/entertainment companies etc like the ability to tout/resell.

TBH, if you want a free market, this is what happens - those prices can only happen because the market supports them. I'm not arguing in favour of this BTW, but this is the way it works at the moment - amoral rather than immoral. Events like the Olympics, the World Cup etc are much more closely regulated. It's not possible to resell football or Glastonbury so it is possible to stop it but then the venue takes on all the risk.

TT will be releasing lots more dates but I don't think that's any great secret.

Hulababy/baffled. Exactly my point. Had we school people been at work, there is NO WAY we could have attempted to get tickets during working hours. Yet I keep hearing of all these people who sat on their keyboards all day trying. Not a lot of work going on, methinks.

Try googling Europe's biggest ticket site. They're not cheap though but it's all very above aboard.

AAgh, Clam - now I understand.

Have just looked on the site mentioned - any mumsnetters selling tickets for £1739 each?? Grin Those touts are having a larf surely? Angry!

Don't know if anyone's interested but I have 2 tickets for Take That for Manchester 7th June, general admission. I'm not some dodgy tout or anything, I'm a MN regular and I just genuinely can't go anymore because my friend is now pregnant and I've since moved to Devon and had a baby, so it makes it tricky! You can just have them for what I paid for them which was their face value of £55 each plus the fees and postage etc...

I did somehow manage to get through the mess and get hold of a pair, but these were literally the only ones I could get hold of, I would have preferred Cardiff, but hey-ho!

If anyone's interested pm me. x

Or alternatively I'll swap them for Cardiff ones - would really still love to go and that would be easier! Grin
