OK, to be honest I only posted here because it's, I think, one of the most active topics.

Quick, quick! I am from Spain and know nothing about Halloween, except what's shown in American films.

What do we do tomorrow? My little girl is 3. Shall we go out and ask for sweets? What time is acceptable? 8PM? 9PM? Do we have to dress up?

Will people come knocking on our doors too? What shall I give them?

Oh, we carved our own Halloween pumpkin and I'm putting it on the door! It's going to be FUN!!! [hgrin]

People will only knock on the door if you have something to show you're a Halloween participant so your pumpkin is fine.

You should do the same - only knock on the door if they have something to show they're involved.

Dressing up and knocking on doors is fine but 8-9 pm is probably too late. My DS is going out at 5pm on Sunday.

Oh, so what time do you think it's best to go knocking on people's doors? And once they knock on ours, then we give them the sweets and that's all? How many sweets per child?

Oh, and this is only on the 31st, right? On Sunday?

Halloween is the 31st, so don't ask for sweets before then.

Yes, dress up as much or as little as you like - dress up your little girl, and visit friends and neighbours.

You knock on the doors after dark, not long after as she is only 3, nine at night is too late.

You say 'Trick or treat.' and the householder either gives you sweets, (or tells you to bog off if they are not playing.)

You say 'Thank you and Happy Halloween'.

We never go to houses where there are no decorations showing - this is a sign that people don't want to be visited. Some do knock at every house but this is considered very rude.

You do nothing tomorrow! Halloween is on Sunday!

Have some wrapped sweets ready for potential callers. If your daughter is 3, she won't last long out and about but she should enjoy walking around in her costume. Grin

TBH a lot of people are having Halloween parties tomorrow so I am expecting knocking tomorrow and I don't mind at all. It is very Halloween friendly in SW London where I live.

I wouldn't mind at all if some kids turn up on Saturday night.

How many sweets do we give per child?
