to give my dd1 her antibiotics...?

my dd1 has had some discharge in her knickers (she is 2.5yrs) since having a cold, she had a swab and the docs receptionist called to say she had a 'bug' couldn't give me further explanation as gp was busy. told me to come and get script and turns out it is antibiotics.

spoke to pharmacist as dd1 had a menengitus scare a few months ago and the antibiotics injection she was given made her eyes cross for 2 days. so you can imagine i am unnerved about giving her the antibiotics.

anyway she is no longer sore and the discharge has practically gone away, i started the course of antibiotics yesterday and it is making her heave so short of holding her down and forcing it into her mouth she won't take it, so i haven't given her any today.

she has never had antibiotics before except for the men injection so i really think she can fight it off herself especially as the symptoms are going...

am i being unreasonable and stupid?

I think you should discuss this with the doc before making a decision either way

If you start a course of antibiotics you have to finish it.

What GiddyPickle said. If you don't kill off all the Bacteria you will be encouraging resistance.

hi- i've spoken to the gp and they told me to stop antibiotics, the bug was a chest/ear infection bug that had apparently worked its way out of her system and was for some reason present in her vulva, the gp thinks she has such a strong immune system that the symptoms of the bug only presented themselves as a mild cold - strange but delighted she is no longer getting sore down there and also that i don't have to hold her down to give her medicine!!
