to send DD's into nursery even though I have a day off?

DD's are 3 and 4, it is DD2's normal nursery but DD1 is there for the half term as I am studying. I have 2 days off as study days and a 1000 word essay due in in 10 days.

So I could keep them home tomorrow and have a snuggley day BUT
I want to go to the gym
I want to tidy the house
I should really start my essay
and I've paid for the nursery anyway
Plus, it's saturday soon anyway, they can wait 2 more days for a snuggle day!

Have a day off! It is almost guaranteed that if you keep them home they will have one of those days where they cry constantly and you will have wished you sent them!

peggotty · 27/10/2010 21:27

YANBU!!

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 27/10/2010 21:27

Yanbu if you have study etc to do. You need a break as well and if they enjoy nursery then why not?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/10/2010 21:29

Yanbu.

You've got plenty to fill your time, and a day in nursery will keep them busy and happy (I would imagine) too.

Hope you get lots done!

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 27/10/2010 21:30

Do bears sh*t in the woods? Is the Pope a Catholic?

No, of course YANBU. You daft woman - put them in nursery and enjoy your lovely day all to yourself!

pozzled · 27/10/2010 21:33

YANBU.

I teach but DD usually goes into nursery when I'm on half term etc.

a) It's good for them to keep their usual routine
b) They will enjoy seeing friends etc
c) More time to sort house etc = more relaxed and happy mum when the DC are around
d) Everyone deserves a break sometimes!

Grin I'm new at this WOHM lark, was a SAHM for nearly 5 years so this get up, breakfast, school, nursery, school for me, nursery, home, food, bed, wine is all still a bit much.
I can't decide whether to take them in for 8 as normal and then go back to bed, or take them in later...

Get them there as soon as it opens!

Go back to bed.

Enjoy

Mumcentreplus · 27/10/2010 21:38

yanbu - i do this occasionally

everyone is allowed a day to themeselves now and again.

Gemjar · 27/10/2010 21:41

YA most definitely NBU!

Cloudbase · 27/10/2010 21:42

For Heavens sake, take them to nursery! They won't notice the difference. It's not as if they know you have a day off!

I do this every now and again - I work nearly full time and am a single parent so if I didn't take the odd sneaky few days off while they are still at nursery, I would be in a padded cell by now!

Please shelve your guilt, take them in for 8, snuggle back in bed and then have a nice leisurely day doing your work Smile

Meglet · 27/10/2010 21:43

yanbu! I'm always doing it. Gym / tidy up / errands and choc bics in peace.

smokinpumpkins · 27/10/2010 21:46

YANBU! I have this week off (work Mon-Wed) and DS1 is off school. DS2 still went to nursery all three days- and yesterday DS1 spent the day with my mum. It was bliss - well the morning when I got my hair cut anyway, before rushing to the GP for antibs for tonsilitus. But the uninterrupted afternoon nap was bliss!!

Ilythia · 27/10/2010 21:52

I think a few hours sleep will truly help with my essay tbh. Really I do. Honest.
They have to go in Friday as nursery are having a Halloween party and DD1 will be Not Impressed if I don't let her go!

Don't feel guilty. Im having an entire week off without DD. Got hair done, sorted filing out, got teeth done, up to date with house work and shopping. Basically everything I dont get time to do when working flat out full time. Bloody great. Happy Mummy = Happy baby! Enjoy!!

pixipie151 · 27/10/2010 22:03

Oh, and had a smear test as very overdue (sorry if TMI!).
