Write on a window in chapstick?

Trying to cross the busy road near my house yesterday with DS age 2 on the buggy board and DD age 6 weeks in the pram.

The crossing, which has a drop kern and double yellows was blocked by a car. Hazard lights not on, nobody in the car, no disabled badge or note. Cars parked on either side making it very difficult to wiggle round (one of them also on double yellows).

I sort of hovered, unsure, thinking someone would come running up and jump in the car, but no. I (sleep deprived and maybe a bit irrational) wrote in chopstick on the driver's side window SELFISH PARKING.

I thought this was naughty but not terrible; no lasting damage no swearing. When I told DH he was appalled, said I had set a terrible example for DS.

I did say to DS afterwards, 'what mummy just did was naughty and you shouldn't write on windows', he thought this was v funny and kept telling me off!

So am I a terrible person, MN jury it is over to you....

No you aren't a selfish, dreadful person. Resourceful yes. I would probably have written selfish unthinking cunt. But that's just me.

emskaboo · 27/10/2010 12:00

Kreecher, oh I was tempted!

you are very reserved, I was thinking of other words than 'parking'

Mowiol · 27/10/2010 12:03

Definitely NOT unreasonable - I hate seeing mums and buggys having to negotiate round parked cars.

AND you have the added value that the chapstick will continue to show up (even after being wiped off) when the windows steam up!! Grin

Good for you - pretty restrained in my opinion!!

suzikettles · 27/10/2010 12:06

By rights they should have got their car towed , so if they got away with just a perfectly fair comment on their windscreen they should think themselves lucky.

HMTheQueen · 27/10/2010 12:11

I'm with you one this (although I can see the point about setting examples!). This infuriates me too... people park really inconsiderately around here too.

BitOfFunderthepatio · 27/10/2010 12:12

Did the chopstick cause any damage? [hgrin]

pickledbabe · 27/10/2010 12:15

it's illegal to park over a crossing.

I'd have done it on his windscreen, actually, because he wouldn't be able to get it off to drive.

idiot
(car driver, not you!)

Iwishiwasalive · 27/10/2010 12:24

Yanbu. You should have put a banana in the exhaust[hgrin]

Pushmeinthepool · 27/10/2010 12:38

LOL Emskaboo, what a good idea! You're definitely NBU. Am laughing my head off at the driver thinking he's wiped it off and then it re-appearing to haunt him everytime the windows get steamed up!

backwardpossom · 27/10/2010 12:40

Brilliant! [hgrin] I'm very impressed with:

a) your resourcefulness, and
b) your self control at not swearing/ranting

SuePurblybilt · 27/10/2010 12:42

I like it and am planning on using it myself. Deffo NBU.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/10/2010 12:44

LOL! That is genuinely brilliant. What a great idea. None destructive but a PITA to remove, and what a twat they will feel having to drive that home.

That should win the mumsnet top passive-agressive tip of the year.

emskaboo · 27/10/2010 12:45

Oh thank you all, I have to admit I was quite chuffed with myself (and only a bit ashamed for behaving badly) until po faced DH's interjection. You've all given me back my sense of pleasure over it (especially now I know it will come back everytime the window steams up) :)

OP posts:
SlaughteredSheep · 27/10/2010 12:47

Ooh, I do hope it isn't able to get washed away/come off before the wanker driver sees it! YANBU at all.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/10/2010 12:50

Go and write on your DP's car/briefcase/stereo 'Chill Out' Grin

doodleboo · 27/10/2010 12:51

well done you!

FindingMymOOOOOOOOjo · 27/10/2010 13:10

Its a brilliant response (mental note to keep that one up my sleeve)!!!

emskaboo · 27/10/2010 13:18

I'm also enjoying that idea Getoffmoiland....

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/10/2010 13:22

Mind you, emskaboo, you are so going to regret the insprirational ideas you have kciked off in your son's head.

One day he will draw pictures on your TV screen in sudocrem

mydadsdaughter · 27/10/2010 13:24

you are definitely not unreasonable, i am gonna put a chapstick or maybe a lipstick in my pocket. Love it!

emskaboo · 27/10/2010 13:24

Oh no, don't say that :)

Mowiol · 27/10/2010 13:25

Our DS once wrote "help me" on our car window and even that was a right bu*er to get off. Hmm Oh how we laughed!

Good job nobody reported us as potential child-abductors Blush.

He thought it was very funny - it was years ago and I think he was annoyed at having to visit relatives with us.

LynetteScavo · 27/10/2010 13:26

Brilliant! I'm going to keep a chap stick in my pocket from not on for this very reason.

Mumi · 27/10/2010 13:28

YANBU - I am going to keep one for lips and one for writing with me at all times now! [hgrin]
