To want to work from Home?

I want to work from home so badly!!

Mainly so I can

  1. Roll out of bed with my partner at 9, make her some breakfast (like I do on current days off) then spend the day with her working from home! (She is a full time student)

  2. I cannot deal with the pathetic office politics no matter where I end up working , plus the whining and the moaning about how awful and slave like the conditions are from some over entitled morons (I have ALWAYS been grateful to work, no matter where i am!!)

  3. The office "Alpha Dickhead" or "Omega Tart" the one man or woman who will either be a stuck up bully or rampant man-tart/tart.

So in closing, I want to work from home, because at the momment working in "This" place has me driving to work every morning thinking "I hope I crash today...A broken leg means I don't have to put up with them people again.."

rant over

Do you want to do your current job from home, or a completely new job that is only done from home?

The former could possibly be negotiated, at least part of the time. Could you have terrible trouble with your boiler, and have to wait in, so spend a day unofficially working from home? Then when your boss sees how productive you were he/she might consider your request more seriously.

I very much doubt i could currently do what i'm doing from home, don't think i'd be allowed or would be able!

An entirely new career would be nice. Christ, it wouldn't even have to pay more than 14k (which im currently on) I would just be far happier if I didn't have to be stuck interacting with this office full of morons!

Do you work at the place my DH last consulted at?

someone went crying to the boss because he didn't wear a shirt, and they all had to! (Erm- its IT, no-one will ever see DH, he's strictly non-public facing)
He has gone back there- only on the strict proviso that he works at home whenever he wishes, there is no deadline for the project, and best of all the office nasty pants is on mat leave, so he doesn't have to put up with her huffing and puffing about consultancy costs when he hands her his invoice. Hmm

Naaah, I work in a call centre which is why I wouldn't be able to work from home!

I just hate it you know?..But I would never dream of quitting, since I pay the bills etc. since im the only one working. I think it would be greatly disrespectful to the people SEEKING working to throw away my job because i'm unhappy.

But in an Ideal world, i would work from home to pay the bills and support my partner!

You can start to look for other work while still doing this job - you don't have to quit in order to do something else.

CaptainNancy · 25/10/2010 13:30

Look for something else- its easier to get a job when you've already got one IYSWIM.
There sre some callcentre/ customre service type places where the operators work from home, a service I use for work does that, so maybe worth looking for?

NerdyFace · 25/10/2010 13:31

I spend all day looking, but im in a rather rural part of wales!..So unless i wanna be a nurse, bartender or carer for the elderly my options are really limited!

Bloody hell, if you find a job working from that earns you 14k or more, forward the details on to me [hgrin]
