Really, that's all. Am I?

Suzihaha · 24/10/2010 21:52

YANBU; I have never watched it and don't understand why the whole world (apart from the sane MNetters on this post) seems to be so fixated on it.

Aaaaarrrgggghhhh. Don't care for all the other reality competition things either.

usualsuspect · 24/10/2010 21:55

I do watch country file to try and balance my shite tv habit Grin

NoahAndTheWhale · 24/10/2010 21:56

I don't watch XFactor. Never have and am unlikely to tbh.

NoahAndTheWhale · 24/10/2010 21:56

I do enjoy masterchef though

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 24/10/2010 21:58

It is utter shite, YADNBU. Wank twoddle.

KatieScarlett2833 · 24/10/2010 22:00

Ben Eltons Book put me right off all these sort of shows.

ElectricSoftParade · 24/10/2010 22:03

I do like Ben Elton but for the life of me cannot remember the name of the book. Remember I enjoyed it though.

Wank twoddle Grin

I do love a bit of X Factor though, although I have come to the conclusion that the only reason I watch it is to get my frustrations from the day out of my system.

"WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK WAS THAT? FUCKING SHITE, YA GREASY PERVY OLD FUCKING WRONGUN!" - my neighbours must adore me Blush "Oh it's the weekend, SWBL must be pissed again..!" Grin

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 24/10/2010 22:05

DEAD FAMOUS.

Also wank twoddle. But more bearable than XFucktor

ElectricSoftParade · 24/10/2010 22:10

YANBU, it is shite. Watched the first couple this season then gave up.

I used to watch it a few years ago but it's gradually got so over dramatic and up itself I can't stand it anymore. Do we really need the dramatic music when the judges walk on? Do we need fireworks and a troup of dancers for every singer, from week one, who we've never even heard of?

And the worst bit is if you do want to follow it, you have to spend all fecking Saturday and Sunday night watching it - how do they manage to drag a few people singing out over about four hours?

It's crap.

MooMooFarm · 24/10/2010 23:25

Sorry can't believe I just used the term 'season' for a tv show. I am a tosser.

MollieO · 24/10/2010 23:37

Never watched X factor and personally I would ban anyone who does fb updates in textspeak.

CountessVonKnackerstein · 24/10/2010 23:49

I've heard of a scheme to get Motley Crue's Girls Girls Girls to Christmas number one instead of the X Factor's offering.
Bet BBC wouldn't show that.

Pixel · 25/10/2010 00:32

I never watch it either, far too cringeworthy. However I did laugh out loud when I saw this. Grin

SolidButShamblingUndeadBrass · 25/10/2010 00:38

I have never, ever, watched a single episode (and BTW the Ben Elton book was Chart Throb; Dead Famous was his take on Big Brother). I watched some of Pop Stars in 2001 and still salute my mate for his genius renaming of the band Hear'say as Heresy.
But I used to hate and rant about Stars In Their Eyes for the same reason - these shows are so horribly much about making sure the proles Know Their Place. The only lasting act that has come out of any of these shitty programmes was Girls Aloud, and the reason why is nothing to do with the individual members of the band (who are all interchangeably 'pretty' ie youngthin&white and can all sing moderately well) but entirely to do with the fact that whoever managed them bothered to spend the money on buying them some songs from that Norwegian hit lab as opposed to what is now the standard practice of getting the 'winner' to cover Stand By Me/LightMy Fire/Unchained Melody or somesuch.

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 25/10/2010 07:58

SBSUB - thanks on the Ben Elton book title. I have actually read both, and of course it was Chart Throb! Doh.

I can't stand these shows, have never watched anything other than the odd comical five minutes whilst channel flicking to remind myself WHY I don't watch them.

mrsoliverramsay · 25/10/2010 09:38

It is far better than Strictly. I have no idea how anyone can watch that unless your over 75.

This year X-Factor is very good. There are some very talented people on it. It is fun and is much needed on a Saturday night.

You may not like it but don't look down on the millions who do

shimmerysilverghosty · 25/10/2010 09:43

I have never once watched an episode of it, or Britains Got Talent or any shows that involve any kind of embarassing OTT "performance".

ElectricSoftParade · 25/10/2010 10:12

MrsOliverramsey, please don't think I am looking down on folk for enjoying it. Really, I am not. I just loathe the all encompassingness (I know, I know) of it. I just wish I could hide it like a thread! Smile

I don't look down on it either, I love Big Brother FGS and Jersey Shore.

It is just something about all that bellowing singing and flinging themselves around the place about I can't stand, I never watched Royal Variety type things either, just that brand of entertainment does nothing for me ,
