DS is 7 months and his nursery is an open plan 0-3 unit. All the children wear string aprons tied at the back and round the back. As these don't fit the youngest they have knotted the string....?

I was a bit Hmm when I saw my baby wearing one just seems a bit unusal?? OTT/AIBU??

I think it sounds unsafe too...wasnt there apretty recent case of a child choking o death aftr it was left asleep and the assistant ad left it's apron hanging nearby? HOrrid to bring it up of course...but if I were you I would insist they provide ALL children with tabbards or aprons which do up with velcro. Not a big ask.

I don't work in a nursery but am a childminder and looked after quite a lot of young babies and wouldn't put them in the round the neck aprons until they were able to sit at my messy play table. For younger ones they would sit in the highchair with ones of those things with long sleeves that velcros at the back. I don't think I've done messy play with them as young as that though, more like from 1+. If a parent was ever unhappy with anything I did/didn't do, I'd much rather they approached me so I could do something about it. You should definitely say something.

ForMash, I was thinking of that case too.

YANBU. Am I missing something? Why is a 7 month old doing arts and crafts? Sounds a bit OTT to me, but maybe just my opinion. I have an 11 mo and he likes standing up, eating raisins, and biting stuff. I don't think I would risk him with artsy crafty stuff yet. He'd just lick the paint and wouldn't really benefit from it.

As for tie around the neck aprons- totally uncessary when there is so much velcro/tabard style stuff around which is much safer. A 7 month old in an apron?

Dear oh dear. shakes head in disbelief
