Genuine Q - AIBU to think that those who use AIBU only could contribute more to MN as a whole? They are missing so much

There is so much MORE to MN than AIBU

childrenofthecornsilk · 24/10/2010 12:33

yes..just you Grin

TrillianSlasher · 24/10/2010 12:37

HautingTheTardis - you have teenagers? How bizarre, I didn't realise it until you said it but I always unthinkingly assumed you were young (as in, too young to possibly have teenagers).

invisibleink · 24/10/2010 12:45

Epic - Is that essentialbaby? I agree!!

People will contribute where and when they can or want to. Some people lurk loads, some have specialities. TBH, this is the internet, you cant dictate how someone uses it!

sixpercenttruejedi · 24/10/2010 12:52

no you can't, but it's always funny to see someone attempt to. (the anti-swearing threads always good for a laugh)

epicfail · 24/10/2010 13:36

No Invisible, it was Simple Savings. Which has a joining fee to boot.

HauntingTheTardis · 24/10/2010 13:37

Trillian, I think I love you!!

Actually, my children accuse me of being childish - that's probably what's coming over in my posts, but I am actually nearly 46, overweight and going grey (under the highlights, of course Grin).

YunoWhatYouDidLastSummer · 24/10/2010 13:51

How do you know that some people only hang out in one place?

TrillianSlasher · 24/10/2010 14:08

I am an Active Convos slut too - end up giving parenting advice and all sorts accidentally because I didn't see what topic area a thread was in. Hmm Grin

pintyblud · 24/10/2010 14:21

southeast - I am pintyblud = pint o' blood

It's a halloween name innit

pintyblud · 24/10/2010 14:22

ah, trill already interpreted

SexuallyInactive · 30/11/2010 00:58

Oh Simple Savings. Yesssss. I've heard bad, bad things about THAT site.

I like AIBU. Makes me laugh. Have been to relationships, multiple births and single parents threads as well. More of a lurker than a poster.

ChippingIn · 30/11/2010 01:10

Dragging up old threads - always fun Hmm

SexuallyInactive · 30/11/2010 01:18

Absolutely.

echt · 30/11/2010 07:22

Does the OP have a spreadsheet showing who posts on what?

AIBU is what brought me to this site - some thread slagging off teachers which was brought up on the TES website. I was enthralled by the sweariness of it all. Like "Deadwood" but ALL woman. Apart form snorbs, that is.

Some stuff gets on me threepennies, but so what?

(Flounces off to Menopause).

BlackBag · 30/11/2010 07:32

Can't use Deadwood language & opinions at the school gate but like to get it all out safely here amongst you cocksuckers.

It's rightly more a tea party on the other threads. Now where's the gimp with my morning whiskey.

zeno · 30/11/2010 10:03

Ha! Deadwood language - Blackbag, I had a such a serious case of watching too much Deadwood that I used "motherless cunt" in conversation with the vicar's wife. She looked terribly startled but still talks to me, so no harm done.

daimbardiva · 30/11/2010 10:34

It's a good point - I started on AIBU and got a bit stuck here, partly through entertainment value, and partly through slightly frightened fascination with people's bluntness!!! It wasn't until I had a "wander" around that I realised what a huge resource the mumsnet forums are - so much info and knowledge, and SO much support. I miscarried a few weeks ago, and the support and sensitivity of mumsnetters was second to none.

FindingMyMojo · 30/11/2010 10:36

its a big HOOK, but it ain't the honey - most MN'ers do learn that pretty quick and start to move around.

Limez · 30/11/2010 10:48

Wht I find really irritating is when people start aibu threads tht really don't need to be in aibu, they are genuine question that could be elsewhere but the op posts in aibu because they think they'll get more replies.

A) stop posting on aibu and it wouldn't be so bloody high traffic.

B) It seems really self-important to think that your thread should be the most visible topic - even when its not suited to aibu - everyone else manages to get by using other topics!

It's all very lazy.
