I am the only at the school gate to not of put my heating on yet. We had new cavity wall and loft insulation installed last year and at present our house is lovely and warm so have no need for heating.
Obviously if the weather is getting colder then i will have to at some pont but as yet there is no need.

:o bought a wood stove last year, best money i ever spent. My house is warmer than it ever was with me putting the heat on and at a fraction of the cost

our heating has been on now for a few weeks, mainly in the morning for 1 hr then early evening for 2. I don't have the thermostats up high yet I save that for the real winter, plus during the day the radiators in the bedrooms are off as we don't use those as much.I also don't like the bedrooms getting stuffy and since we had our home insulated the heat takes ages to escape.

generally, if the room temp drops below 18/19C I put the heating on.

I am aware of the cost but if we need it on e have it on Smile

We had the cavity wall insulation done last Nov and it was the best 200 quid we spent. House instantly felt less drafty and my dsis stopped arriving with a fleece to put on when inside the house!

YANBU obviously. I can't afford to put the heating on right now even though our little house is freezing. Me and DD have been doing lots of snuggling under the duvet watching movies in the afternoons after work/nursery. It's nice. Smile

YANBU to not have your heating on if you are not cold. We live in a new flat. The flat is always boiling hot (never had the heating on all of last winter).

But it does make my blood boil that people like saffy cannot afford heating in their houses. What type of country do we live in that allows young children to shiver in their own home?
