hi i am a regulare but have name changed for this. i was wondering if anyone would e able to help me here. i have seen on the news about benfits being cut/capped but cant seem to find any exact figures.

was wondering if anyone could be able to help me and see if my benefit will be capped or cut, so that i can be prepared for this.

i recieve weekly:
£135 child tax credit
£48 cb
£65 incone support
£145 hb
£12 ctb

i no this seems like a huge amount when written like this but in reality it isnt. once i have paid gas, elec, water rates (£28 per week!), tv licence etc there is not much left for food/nappies.

i would be very grateful if anyone could help. i am not intending to be on benefit forever and i do want to better myself for myself and my children.

I'm not putting you down. I'm just gobsmacked at the amount of money they give you. And please don't pull the violent relationship card, I've escaped myself when my eldest (the one at Uni) was a baby.

Political correctness has gone far too far. Yes, you are entitled to "board and lodgings", heat, light, food and a little to send. But bloody hell. There is something VERY wrong when someone who works two jobs has less money than someone who doesn't work at all.

ilove · 21/10/2010 22:52

spend not send!

GypsyMoth · 21/10/2010 22:52

it gets eaier namechangerr....i'm 5 years on now.

jobs do come along, but seasonal/temporary,so you are soon back to square one.

am luky to be alive too,so is dd2. Sad for us all

ruddynorah · 21/10/2010 22:53

actually i think it's £500 a week. bringing benefits inline with average earnings or something. no family would get more than £26k. less for single people with no kids.

yes so those with 8 kids would just get £26k not the huuuuuge amounts the papers report. not sure if school meals etc are included in that figure..

GypsyMoth · 21/10/2010 22:54

ilove.....maybe its because its low paid work? maybe employers need to pay more? benefits are worked out to keep us off the breadline....i think something is wrong with minimum wage system if your wage is so low!

GypsyMoth · 21/10/2010 22:55

is water rates arrears,catching up?

ilove · 21/10/2010 22:56

Nope, I don't work for minimum wage...just above in the supermarket job I have, and fairly well above in the full time one. But after tax and NI, I bring home around £1500 a month. It bloody sucks.

ruddynorah · 21/10/2010 22:56

it was announced same time as cb changes

GypsyMoth · 21/10/2010 22:57

it does i love. i agree

and on top of all we do get...dd now gets £30 a week EMA stuck into her account every week....lovely!!Hmm

namechangerrr · 21/10/2010 23:01

my water rates are expensive as i live in the sw, south west water charge a fortune. ive tried applying for a water metre but for some reason they are unable to fit one :(

and ilove you are comparing our income but am i right in thinking you have one dependant dc? i have 3. 3 mouths to feed, clothe and wash.

i am not pulling the violence card i am saying it how it is. i am emotionally unstable atm and need time to get used to everything and settle my dcs. i am planning on going into employmnt in the near future.

and yes i think you were putting me down when saying i do 'nouthing'!!

MaMoTTaT · 21/10/2010 23:05

i think i love has 4 dc.

but anyway, violence does take time to recover from, obviously. hope it gets easier soon

ilove · 21/10/2010 23:06

I've claimed. I'm not entitled as the children are older and I don't pay for childcare.

namechangerrr · 21/10/2010 23:07

ilove so why do you say you are not entitled to ctc? of course you are. you are on a low wage and have dependant dcs. or are you reluctant to claim?

OP posts:
misdee · 21/10/2010 23:07

i dont know how it will affect you, and cant work out how it affects us as dh gets the disability bit on WTC.

MaMoTTaT · 21/10/2010 23:08

and it's £500 a week for no working couples, and £350 for single parents (no matter where you are in the country - so tough shite those of you who are on benefits through no fault of your own and live in the South)

namechangerrr · 21/10/2010 23:08

thankyou sprinkle :) my head is all over the place atm.

OP posts:
MaMoTTaT · 21/10/2010 23:09

the childcare element is extra on top of the normal CTC.

ilove · 21/10/2010 23:09

Right I'm off to bed. G'night all.

namechangerrr · 21/10/2010 23:09

thanks for that mamottat. what is the need for this bullying behaviour?

OP posts:
MaMoTTaT · 21/10/2010 23:10
