I am exhausted , my gorgeous ds is awake at 5.30 every morning and does not stop moving in all that time. He is 10 months and is crawling, cruising and climbing. He also has severe separation anxiety so if I leave him in his walker for 5 min he starts screaming. I try (in vain) to keep up with housework during the daybut normally can't cos of above and dp is a bit useless and doesn't do any so I "catch up" at the weekend. Oh and I'm with my ds 24/7 as no family nearby so am on my own looking after him with no break.
Anyway next Friday dp has the day off and I asked if he would take ds back to our hometown for weekend to see family and I could stay at home and catch up with housework, wedding planning and sleep (bit of an insomniac so even when ds sleeps I'm awake) aibu to really excited about this 'time off?' I love them but I just can't wait. Do I sound really mean? Dp bit miffed at how much I'm looking forward to it.

You sound very normal to me. Having no time at all to yourself is very hard. Maybe underplay just how excited you are though? And maybe lower your standards a bit when it comes to hosework. No one can be perfect!

GoreRenewed · 21/10/2010 20:21

Not at all!

Enjoy.

Enjoy some time to yourself and don't feel guilty.

You can cut corners with the housework by ironing as little as possible. If you straighten / fold clothes carefully before putting them on a clothes horse (or radiator, now the cold weather's here)hardly anything needs ironing.

Contain your excitement, just whoop once the door is closed and you can be thoroughly selfish for once!!

SuchProspects · 21/10/2010 20:37

No. But YABU to boast about it to everyone here! Grin Enjoy your weekend, and don't do a jot of housework.

onceamai · 21/10/2010 21:44

YANBU and enjoy your freedom for a few days. You'll miss ds though.

YANBU

In the summer, DH and FIL took DS (nearly 2 at the time) away for a "boys weekend" and I stayed at home. The house was lovely and tidy all the time and I went shopping with my friends, and lounged about reading and watching films over a take-away. Only downside was that I'm pregnant so couldn't crack open the vino (too much).

It was glorious Grin
