To ask for my hair to be cut again

OK, I'm extremely pregnant and easily pissed off at present, but I went to the hairdresser and said 'can you put some layers in, I don't want it blowdried for ages, just dry it a bit when you're done.'

So he cuts it and then says I'll just blow dry it a bit and then you can tell me if you want more layers in. He then blowdries for ages and by the time he's done I'm so overheated I've lost the will to live and just leave, thinking, well it doesn't look that great but it never does when you leave.

Then when I get home and rewash it (because he smokes so it smells like an ashtray) I realise it's little more than a bob. it was quite long and now it's all one length with a tiny bit of layering, just a crappy haircut.

I contacted the salon and said can you re-do it? They have arranged for someone else to re-cut it. But am I being unreasonable..... I mean half the time you leave a hairdresser you hate your cut, surely if everyone asked for a re-cut they would go out of business?

No, it's general practice that if you're not happy with it go back. I am usually happy with mine, I think most people are.

I used to be a hairdresser, and to be honest it is hard when people ask NOT to have their hair blowdried as this helps to see if there any bits of hair that need tweaking if that makes sense?

However as for being pregnant and over heating thats horrible I remember always fainting when I got to faint due to Air con broke at work so there YANBU.

If they are a good hairdressers and you are a regular clint then they should re cut it for free. Thats what we used to anyway!

Oh thanks, I have never asked before and was surprised at how readily they agreed. He blowdried it anyway - i should have told him again that I didn't want him too, but I have to take off my glasses at hairdressers so am basically blind once they get started, which makes it harder to communicate!

I've had a similar issue this week. My usually great hairdresser messed up my cut, giving me a chunky side fringe. I've been back to see if they can improve it, and have been given full refund. Don't feel bad about asking for a re-cut; you did not get what you asked for. Unfortunately in my case only growing it out will really improve the haircut!

Its a bit of an "ask" saying not to blowdry, from what I've heard. A lot of salons dont really like you to walk out of there "unfinished" as it reflects badly on them, and it is very hard for them to evaluate the final cut. Its not just because of price, people think its so they can charge but its really not all about that.

Having said that its wrong of him to have taken more off than what you asked for. He can add more layers, but you might lose more length.
