ok, I confess I've had a couple of glasses of vino calipso, but I'm still compismentis (God only knows how you spell that word)... I bloody loved that programme. I only caught it half-way through but I really warmed to the women (and men) who were so honest about their position in society. I'm from old working class stock so don't have a vested interest, just loved it as a documentary. I feel strongly that I should share the love.

I didn't see the cheer leading one - I live just outside Sheffield - I'll see if it's still on i-player

HRHCavey · 21/10/2010 22:24

A much more natural looking photo of her on her wedding day here

hatwoman · 21/10/2010 22:26

I did laugh out load at "I haven't worn a tiara for ..ooo...25 years"

Onetoomanycornettos · 21/10/2010 22:27

hatwoman, that was the best line in the entire documentary!

kennythekangaroo · 21/10/2010 22:30

And look at her tiny waist here

blackwell · 21/10/2010 22:31

Haha, loads of the picture captions say ' Dutchess of Bedford' - just what she was complaining about, 'as if I was from Holland'

Onetoomanycornettos · 21/10/2010 22:33

CMOT, I agree that the coach was ultimately inspirational for the boys, but his manner was very direct, indeed rude at times. He also told them when their work was crap and that they weren't trying hard enough (in amidst the hugs and encouragement). It worked exceptionally well for these boys in that quite deprived environment, but I did wonder how many MNetters would be up in arms if their DS had been spoken to like that in a dance class, indeed how many would have been drafting their letter of complaint...

It wasn't all stickers and positive feedback, which I thought was interesting (as my own dd's come back postively festooned with stickers for doing things like eating with a knife and fork from their school).

HRHCavey · 21/10/2010 22:34

Flippin heck KTK, that looks bizzare!

hatwoman · 21/10/2010 22:34

Shock at that waist.

The style is rather high-fashion. rather a long way from camilla and co's barbours and hunters

sfxmum · 21/10/2010 22:35

it was mostly hilarious just anachronistic and frankly odd sometimes
Camila and her Myles would have made me slightly sad if they weren't so unpleasant

stubbornhubby · 22/10/2010 10:23

it was a really, really good programme.
I love the style, the way they let these women speak for themselves, and tie their own knots.

all of those women probably watched the programme and were happy with the way they came over.. yet they didn't necessarily come over very well.

But while the programme is ruthless in what it exposes, it doesn't come across as malicious or cruel. A very subtle and clever programme.

there is a tinge of sadness that runs through all of Wonderland, but with always also the promise of redemption.

An excellent programme.
