To leave my 14month old alone??

Okay in reality not as bad as title hopefully!
Up stairs in my house I have one hallway which is about 15ft long and 5th wide. The four rooms and one bathroom come off of it. Whilst I have a quick bath (10-15mins) I shut all the doors to the rooms, lock the stair gate and leave dd in there with some toys. I have bathroom door unlocked but shut as I feel the bathroom is more dangerous than my hallway. I can hear her loud and clear and obviously if she cried I'd be out there in a shot!
Hallway has one plug socket which has a plastic cover thing and other than that it is a complete blank canvas. No pictures on Walls, nothing. I really feel it is safer than bathroom.
Am I being stupid and a terrible parent??

Oh yes don't know why friend was quite so concerned she just kept saying "anything could happen, anything could happen" ?

Maybe she ment she could cartwheel over the baby gate gymnast style??
DD is VERY short for her age and can only just see over gate without standing on tip toes !

Hadn't thought of a little hook to keep the door closed - thanks!

We'll need to keep ours out of the dining room till:
a: they can be trusted not to empty all of the glassware out of the sidebaord
b: we have drunk all of the alcohol in the sideboard (that's xmas sorted then!)

ps your friend is a loon, stairgates are there to keep your DCs safe!

Headless- I'm surprised there is any alcohol left with 14month old twins!! DD is great but is very active and like I said not really into toys etc, she is also down to one nap a day which is a bit of a killer but I am loving this age soo much! Better than newborn!

Do you have boy or girl twins?
