To think that the Irish Government are wrong to ban homebirths?

TheBird, here in the UK (IME) if you are in a remote area or had a history of quick births, the midwives doing your ante-natal care are actually likely to recommend a homebirth as a safer option (barring any complications obv).

I don't think it is any coincidence that the rate of c-sections is so high in Ireland, also planned inductions without any medical reason, etc.

But obv the system is totally different to the UK and also doesn't help that it is a more litigatious country...

Personally I think there should be more local midwife-led birthing units, it's ridiculous that someone living say on the Beara peninsula has to travel up to Cork city to have their baby.
