Ok on Monday spent £85 in ASDA. Love their clothes for work as if get covered in paint/sick etc I dont feel so bad.

Ayway got new jeans and top. Which I wore yesterday from 7am-6.30pm. Did the school run, toddler group, had a friend over for lunch and kids played - nothing out of the ordinary no rock climing or anything.

At 6 I noticed the top had 7 little holes and one bigger hole i it at the tummy. The only thing I cann think of causing it is the belt on the jeans.

I just feel a bit shit that I cant really wear that top again. I want to take it back on the basis that its shit quality to get holes after 1 days wear. I suspect I should just suck it up, what would you do?

Take it back. Asda have a policy of refunding. My sil used to work pm customer services and had to refund for outrageous stuff so your genuine problem will raise no eyebrows.

firefliesinjune · 20/10/2010 06:28

They have a 100 day quality guarantee. Take it back. They normally are quite good IMO with taking things back.

GivesHeadlessHorseman · 20/10/2010 06:36

Yes it's the belt but take it back. It should be fit for purpose and a casual top to be worn with jeans should be able to withstand more than a day's worth of belt friction!

I wouldn't bother getting another one though - the same will happen if it's quite a fine knit/weave.

seeker · 20/10/2010 06:37

Take it back. ANd there's no need for you to feel shit - it was them who sold you a rubbish quality top!

Gory09 · 20/10/2010 07:13

I would take it back too, 1 day is definitely not good enough.

RunawayPumpkin · 20/10/2010 07:17

Take it back, they will replace it

MissEltoe · 20/10/2010 10:20

Definitely take it back. So long as you have your receipt to prove when it was purchased they should replace it.

Either the top was not good quality, or the belt was unreasonably 'sharp'. Either way, one day's wear should not result in holes, so I would take it back.

Another vote for take it back. There's disposable fashion and there's crap quality.

The top is not up to scratch to hole so quickly.

scotsmuminengland · 20/10/2010 10:41

I get this all the time on my tops and I don't wear belts. It isn't Asda clothes either. I wear Next,Dorothy Perkins etc, never Asda. I haven't a clue why it keeps happening. My DH thinks it may be the zip on my jeans but I don't think so. I have thrown out a lot of tops because of this. Maybe the tops are poor quality but I would think Next should be half decent

giraffesCantDookForApples · 20/10/2010 11:28

Am wearing another adsa top today and same belt, no holes so far. Belt bit doesn't seem that jaggy and been wearing same jeans for a few weeks (On Mon went and bought another pair as they fit so well and are so comfy) and its not happened to any of my other tops.

If it was their jeans that you wore with it, and you think that they caused the problem, consdier taking them back with you too or at least double checking that they won't have the same effect on other tops - no point having the trousers either if they are going to ruin every top you wear with them!

giraffesCantDookForApples · 20/10/2010 11:31

Sorry should say the belt is one that comes attached to jeans so both asda.

I think I will take it back then. I dont expect stuff to last ages from there but more than one day!

Not heres another question - should I wash it first? It has some baked beans down it thanks to kids. Am worried the holes will get worse in washing machine and if its obviously been washed will they tell me they think its my machine at fault?

Ring the number on your receipt, explain what has happened and ask them if they would prefer it washed (explain you are concerned you would get the blame). Make sure you take the name of the person you spoke to. And relax cos a top from Asda costs a few quid and the worse that can happen is they say no to a refund which they won't.

giraffesCantDookForApples · 22/10/2010 10:02

I returned it unwashed, got refund without any questions/argument. Woman had a cats bum face but she was like that before I told her what I was stannding at check out for so think its just her atural charm.
