To be annoyed when they say the poorest will

be affected worse by the cuts?

The poorest are on benefits and will still get their benefits, council tax paid, housing and child benefit so how will they be affected?

It's the middle incomes that will be affected!

I don't have a problem with the poorest still getting their benefits but this scare mongering and ignoring the middle incomes that are losing everything is winding me up.

kelly, pregnant women don't have to pay prescription charges at all.... ever....

Golly Im not on minimum wage, i dont work full time, i do part time paid work and some unpaid volunteer work, so no, am most definitely not on any sort of benefits, and until i was pregnant yes i did have to pay for my prescriptions. I know i get them paid for now, and i feel guilty about it.

I also know im going to HAVE to apply for working tax credits, it just doesnt make me feel great tbh, he`s my child and if i wasnt so fucking feckless and got pregnant by a complete shit who ran out on us, then i wouldnt need government help to feed and clothe him.

Hopefully i can find a weekend job or something after he`s born

Why on earth do you feel guilty about not having to pay for your prescriptions? Confused I have never paid for mine (life long illness makes me exempt). I have never felt guilty. Why on earth should I? Hmm

With regards to OP, I think I will be hit hard by a lot of things being working poor. Yes I get housing benefit but not very much at all to cover my shocking rent. I get Council Tax benefit of... £1.62 a month. I kid you not. And the tax credits nearly cover all my other outgoings, including childcare.... but not quite.

I also think almost everyone else will be hit pretty hard too but you're living in lala land if you think that it's as simple as "it's ok for you poor lot, you'll still get your benefits paid wont you?" You'll be telling me yout think everyone on benefits have got a flat screen telly next....

Even if a person classed as 'poor' i.e. an income (wages, benefits or a combination of both) less than 60% of the national median, sees no change whatsoever in what they receive, they will be the ones that miss any public services that they currently get for free. Any price-rises (such as any products affected by the higher-rate VAT) proportionally affect people on low incomes more than those on high incomes. Public services also employ a high percentage of low-paid (poor) workers. So if jobs go in that area, it is likely that the poor will be most affected.

I think thinks need to be based on a household earnings and not just one person in that house hold, I do agree with a lot of what they are doing, but yes the impact will hit the people who have been doing the right thing and working, paying in to the system and getting by under their own steam the most. I do like the fact you wont get to be one person in a 3 bed council house though, I like the getting people off benefits and back to work plan, and if they base the CB on the household wage and not on one persons I would support it whole heartedly.
No I am not on Benefits and DH earns 20K a year so not rich, but too many have had a free ride for too long and a shake up is long over due....

Pissed off about the uni fees though

DWP help with mortgage assistance has already been cut from 1.10.10 for those paying more than 3.6% mortgage interest.
Housing benefit will be savagely cut next year, & more of same to follow.
You do the maths re future repossession/eviction figures.
This discussion wouldn't be necessary if the super wealthy actually paid some UK income tax.

kelly2525 i think in that case you are not reciving what financial assistance is availible to you, or you need to make sure baby comes along you know what you should be claiming.
