in lacking sympathy that he can't hear me?

At work, customers regularly get a bit corss when asked to fill forms out, because they haven't got their glasses.

If I take my glasses off, I can't see either! That is why I wear them!

A man came in yesterday to discuss a complicated query and get information. He then informed me that he couldn't hear what I was saying, because he was not wearing his hearing aid.

Why set out from your house to have a conversation with someone to get information from them, and not wear your hearing aid?

AIBU in failing entirely to have any sympathy for the people that for whatever reason (in most cases IMO vanity) don't wear the devices that they are provideds with to ensure that they can go about their business unaided?

I am forever forgetting my glasses and cannot see a thing without them

foxinsocks · 18/10/2010 20:06

My friend's mum used to use this line all the time. She couldn't read and was embarrassed about it.

I'm a bit deaf, but don't have a hearing aid, I do a lot of lip reading, especially when it comes to talking thru glass. It helps a lot when people look at you when they're talking, don't mumble, and don't cover their mouths. Just sayin.

Oh that's sad kathy, about your mum's friend

I had a really funny enounter in Mothercare a few weeks ago. A woman came up to me as I was trying to find something on the racks and thrust something in front of me. She asked me if I could just read something for her because she couldn't be bothered to get her glasses out of her hand bag. I had difficutly taking hold of what she was putting in my hand as it was holding my white stick Grin

I have never seen anyone so mortified. actually it was probably a few months ago and I am still chuckling about it :) I bet she either uses her glasses a bit more or looks a little more carefully at who she approaches for help now.
