To wonder why I should have to pay for this?

Before I signed my contract with my childminder she told me of two dates that she would not be able to work. Fair enough. Now she's expecting me to pay for these two days even though she didn't work them because she was doing something else. Confused Is she having a laugh?

What does your contract state, its all well and good her telling you, but if you signed and agreed to paying it then you will have to.

Isn't she legally entitled to holiday pay?

macdoodle · 16/10/2010 08:29

No she isnt, she's self employed, so it depends what your contract with her is!
My contract with my CM states, I pay her monthly which works out at 48 weeks a year, she takes 5 weeks holiday a year (usually the same weeks, 2 at xmas, 2 end of summer, and one at easter), and as she is so wonderful and flexible and often helps me the odd day at xmas if I need it.
I pay her when I am on holiday, though I do try to take holiday the same weeks she does.
It works for us.

It's ok. I looked at my contract and she's entitled to holiday pay and likewise if I want a holiday gthen I don't have to pay for two days so I feel better about it. She's really good with dd.
