My brother had a woman reverse in to his car door causing dent and scratching the paint work. My brother and his partner saw the woman do it as theywere looking out the window at her...

They thought she was going to get out ect then they saw her speed off?!

Surely thats Illegal? My brother is going back round there to tell her he saw what happened!

Yes that is illegal. She should have given them her insurance details.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 15/10/2010 18:23

does your brother know this woman then?

bubbleOseven · 15/10/2010 18:24

oh thats definately one for the police. I wouldn't bother going round her house, she's not insured - thats why she drove off.

izzywizzywoowooo · 15/10/2010 18:24

No he doesn't. He was at his Girlfriends house so when ge goes to see her he is going to knock on her door. Thing is though if he goes to the police isn't it just his word v hers?

Fucking hell was it me??? I did exactly this last Friday, scraped neigbour's car in the morning and drove off as had to get kids to school. But came back in the evening and my fabulous dh went over the road to apologise and give insurance details.

izzywizzywoowooo · 15/10/2010 18:30

Well no one has been round to his partners house as of yet maybe she just thought no one saw that i'll do one? However they saw out the bedroom window!

he's not going to get a penny if she's not insured, it doesn't matter whether the police believe your brother or her.

But he should still tell the police.

And he could sue her personally, They'll be CCTV somewhere of the incident perhaps? Also, some of the paint from your brothers car will be on her car, that's evidence.

tallwivglasses · 15/10/2010 18:34

Could he take a picture of her car? If the paintwork on your brother's car was damaged there might be evidence of it on hers?

izzywizzywoowooo · 15/10/2010 18:34

Yeah he is ringing them up after work. Some people do have a cheek...

Ooops, too slow!

Heracles · 16/10/2010 13:36

She'll have left paint marks from her car on your bro's door. Call the police, let them sort it.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/10/2010 13:40

This happened to me. I had the reg number and went to the police. He denied it but the evidence was there on his car and his insurance paid up.

MaimAndKilloki · 16/10/2010 16:30

Happened to me too, we saw someone trying to park, reverse into our car then suddenly decide they weren't going to park after all and drive off.

Luckily they didn't hit the car hard enough to damage it, not that they stopped to check.

SlightlyUndead · 16/10/2010 16:35

Bit irrelevant but a friend of mine was parked at Tesco. When he returned to his car, someone had reversed into him. He saw a note tucked under the windscreen wiper but when he opened it, it read

Hello
I have just reversed in to your car. There are people watching me so I am writing this so that they think i am leaving my details for you. I am not. Sorry

Shock

Omg slightly cheeky fuckers! I loathe people like that!

Well my brother went round and her partner came out a little drunk apparently, My brother said he saw his partner reverse in to his car. He denied it all!

He then said ok I will phone the police and get some advice, straight away the man offered my brother a £100 for a new door. (Odd considering he denied all knowlege!)

She then came out and said it was illegal to park so close to someones drive? (sure this isn't true) My brother aplogised if she found it difficult but then said it doesn't give you the right to damage someone's car and drive off.

They ended up going through the insurance in the end. Just goes to show what kind of people they are having lied about it before hand!
