ok i am probably am a bit

dh was playing with dd just before bed, they were running about in the house, he was getting her to chase him.

she fell and hit her head, we don't really know what on as dh didnt see her fall as dd was behind him.
it might have been the worktop ot the side of the kitchen units
any way

big cut on the head, blood everywhere trip to a and e
they used 3 steri strips to close it

tbh i felt a bit pissed of with dh.
i kept a lid on it and didn't have a go at him though as it wouldnt help dd.

aibu to be a bit pissed off

and

aibu to ban running about in the kitchen?
as last time when dh was playing trapping her in his legs then letting go.
she somehow fell on the floor and cut her chin open.

YANBU; I don't let my children run around in the kitchen.

carrie - even the best of us can be painfully (if you'll excuse the pun) to prevent accidents when they're in places where "danger" awareness if usually slightly less - - near a road, near hot/dangerous stuff I think most of us are naturally more alert, but it's extremely easy to let your guard down, and it only takes a few seconds in a "safe" place such as a playground.

GoreRenewed · 15/10/2010 11:06

Don't be pissed off with him but do agree that kitchen's aren't a good place to play

carriedababi · 15/10/2010 11:13

yeah i don't want to have a go at him or be pissed off with him, and i don't want him to stop roughplaying with her.
it was an accident
and he was only playing chase with her.

i do wish he could slightly more aware though.

i will follow the advice to ban running/playing in the kitchen though.

Poor you carrie it's such a shock when something like that happens isn't it?

Well done for not having a go at your dh. I'm fairly sure I would have felt the same myself but I too would have buttoned my lip. My dd2 ended up in a&e with a very impressive bump to the head on Sunday morning, she was climbing on a chair on the patio and fell head first onto the stone slabs. It was my fault, she's still a baby (can't walk properly yet but my god can she climb) and I should have been watchign her more closely but I turned my back for a second and over she went. I felt awful, and I think it would have finished me off if dh had had a go at me for being careless.

Nice glass of wine sounds like a great idea. Worked a treat for me Grin

thanks, yes suppose i still feel a bit shocked today. i am quite happy i kept my cool.
it also wouldn't help dd at all.

these things do happen.

jusy hope now it heals up ok and doesn't scar/scar too bad, as she has such a lovely face.

I think YANBU to be pissed off. That's quite a catalogue of accidents that happen when he is in charge. You can forgive one or two but you think he might have learnt something by now.

Perhaps men are just blind to these things? You know when babies are still quite young and cannot support their head for long periods - it used to catch DH by surprise and he could never see it coming, he was always being nutted by the DC. They never got me.Grin

MaMoTTaT · 15/10/2010 12:11

god I hope no-one ever judges me on my catalogue of accidents that have happened to my DS's while I'm in charge Blush

dried beans are VERY useful. Much cheaper than buying the cans if you're making a bean based meal.
