DP has asked to take me out on Saturday evening just the 2 of us for the first time in..well since I fell pg with DS2 who is now 3yrs old.

Mum is going to babysit.

The 2 choices are

awards ceremony with free food and drink (works do)

or a meal just he and I and a couple of drinks.

So I have a dilemma, I don't want to make the wrong decision.
I really want to go but am worried whether he would leave me standing alone at the awards do - which if i am honest he won't.
And if we go for a meal the evening will be over much sooner than I will want it to.

So which would YOU the jury pick?

Ceremony, especially if he is due to get an award :) then afterwards go for a couple of drinks alone before heading back.

Both! Awards ceremony,leave when decently possible, (after your dh is presented with award and you eat), then leave and have drinks or dancing or whatever you two enjoy, with just your dh.
Enjoy whatever you decide.

If he is getting an award, let him have his moment in the sun, then sneak off for romantic drinks once he has bagged his gong (fnarr!)

And go out more often- your DC2 will be fine!

Definitely awards as then you can gossip about the people there, what they were wearing, 'can you believe Sharon got best salesperson when she's such a cow' etc over drinks later and then you avoid talking about the kids all night. And you can REALLY get glammed up.

Well we went to the awards and I was BORED omg what a bunch haha, anyway DP picked up on it and we jumped on the bus back to the local where they have a karaoke which I have become a regular at. We have had an excellent night refound our love and adoration for eachother, realised that we are not just parents and all in all have had a wonderful night.

Dinner & drinks out -just the two of us... much nicer IMO.

It doesn't need to end any sooner than an awards ceremony would (sounds hugely boring to me!). Frankly, I'd rather have fish & chips in a carpark than go to an awards ceremony for work!!
