I don't get how a small bar of galaxy for example is about 65p, yet they have the massive bars for about £1 or £1.15. This stupid pricing structure is not good for the waistline.

In Tesco this week, small packet of Cadburys Buttons, 55p, massive bag of Giant Buttons....£1. Rude not to, I thought

I recently walked out of WHSmith empty handed because the cheapest bottle of water they had was £1 Shock for £500 mls, (at home I just use the tap). I went to the local takeaway coffee shop directly opposite and got one for 50p. I thought large chain stores were supposed to be cheaper and good value [hmmm] seems not.

My local newsagent does a lovely special offer, you can get 2 Dairy Milk's for 50p. Grin. It doesn't apply to Caramel's though Sad

I used to eat a lot of crisps until I had a minor heart blip. Now ration myself to one bag a week

I love crisps. I was in england recently and bought 24 packets of salt and vinegar and 12 cheese and onion. I only took 12 of the S+V into our house. I left the rest in the shit pit car and eat them in secret Blush

BeatRoute · 15/10/2010 13:27

Liv77-WHSmith are dying on their arses. They can't overcharge for newspapers and magazines so they rip you off for everything else. I haven't bought anything in there for years!

babymutha · 15/10/2010 13:32

I remember crisps being 8p in our local supermarket circa 1976. happy days.

cakewench · 15/10/2010 14:20

DandyDan ooh didn't know that about the Twix bars. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere, but I'm not touching it. :o

twirlymum · 15/10/2010 14:28

Yes, when a small bar of galaxy is 65p and a greedy cow family size one is only £1.15, it makes sense to buy it. And eat it. In one go.

twirlymum · 15/10/2010 14:36

Aaagh! Why do my crossing outs never work?

SlightlyUndead · 15/10/2010 15:07

twirly you have to put the dashes either side of each of the words - you can't 'block' cross out. Took me ages to work that out too

senua · 15/10/2010 15:16

It's the recession, innit?
They have worked out that everyone is skint and has no spare cash, but every now and then we want a treat to cheer ourselves up. We can't justify £50 in a bottle of champers so we 'treat' ourselves to a little bit of chocolate or crisps. We have a guilt-free pleasure of paying less than £1 for a bit of luxury. Or some such advertising blather.
Don't fall for it!
