To want to slam on my breaks purposefully so tailgaters crash into the back of me?

Why do they feel the need to drive intimidatingly and dangerously close. I'm not driving too slow, I'm not going to speed up, I'm not going to pull over, if anything I'm going to slow down to piss them off make the situation less hazardess.

I would ensure I was wearing protective gear and nobody else was at risk, then the next time someone drove right up my backside I would slam my breaks on emergency stop style. I could do with my car being written off anyway.

Obviously I'm not actually going to do this, but I really want to!

yanbu to think it but yabu to do it.

I get this a lot as I drive at the speed limit. Several years ago I started an advanced driving course and it gave me more confidence to ignore what the idiot behind me was doing. I just drive as safely as I can, never got round to finishing the course as I had DS but I will finish it one day.

It drives me loco as well, but I have decided to become more zen about the whole situation as I have realised I far rather have peoplee who drive like Prairie Hats in front of me than behind me and I am so much more in control.

I loathe it too. It used to really stress me, but now I just don't look in the mirror if someone is right up my exhaust pipe - what's the point, when you know you're just going to see some prat's radiator? So, I ignore them. I really feel that patience is one of the most important things a driver can have, and so many don't.

My DH, bless 'im, drives close 'to make them go faster'. Hmm. So that's why they do it. What a shame it has the opposite effect. I chant at him 'Only a fool breaks the two second rule' but he's a better driver than me, so what do I know? Grin

I have to say that I too drive slower if someone comes up my arse! I have also turned the lights on but am loving the windscreen washer idea, will def do that next time.

Catinthehat I love your explanation of why people do this!!!!
