I agree with him on food and agree that Gina Ford works. I also agree that it's like soviet doctrine and I'd rather not indoctrinate children. Most people who don't like it don't think that it doesn't work, more that it should not be done.

JTGK, I imagine that the reasons would be along the lines of 'the baby likes it' and 'it never did me any harm'.

I was a bit meh about him till I realised that the new primary school ds ha just started at didn't have its own kitchens and used to use outside catering crap till Jamie's campaign over school dinners, and now it provides proper, nutritious meals

I like him a lot.

I'm sure GF does work. It's whether or not one wants it to work... Grin

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 11/10/2010 17:29

Have you seen that he is doing a webchat on Friday?

Am thinking of something half-way intelligent to ask. And it won't be about bloody GF.

narkypuffin · 11/10/2010 17:42

How about...

Cornflour. Discuss.

I know he can seem very pious-pants but once you realise that he is sincere it's hard to dislike him.

Or his wife, regardless of GF- there are very few women who are brave enough to admit that their main goal is to have a family nowadays. I always thought that feminism fought for women to have the choice to do things the way they want to, but there seem to be women who delight in trashing each other's choices- see the three week old in nursery thread.

GF may "work" (that depends on how you interpret work) but that doesn't make it right, imho. Agree with narkypuffin.

I cannot stand him either, just can't stand his smarmy face, I know he's done good for school meals etc but that doesn't mean I have to like him or agree with some of the things he does.

There is a happy medium and I really don't think either him or GF are that.

I saw a kid in the shop near where I work being given a Mars Bar the other day and the 12 year old (!) pushing his buggy said "ere's your breakfast" as she gave it to him - he was maybe 18 months old.

So I kind of "get" Jamie in this respect, but he does have a "smack me" sort of smug face.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 11/10/2010 21:57

I agree narky - he does come across as pious but I do believe he is sincere.

I love love Jamie. I think the article's a hoot.
