Does anyone feel they don't need anything else?

DP still hasn't got me my birthday present because I've got no idea what I want and there is nothing I need.

I've hit my mid thirties and for the first time in my life feel truely as if I've got all I could want - a lovely dp and dd, enough food, a home, a kitten, various bits of technology (tv, laptop, dvd player etc.) a full fridge freezer, half a dozen bottles of wine, furniture, clothes etc. etc.

Does anyone else feel like this? I have no make up and very little jewelry but I'm just not really that sort of person.

Anyone else feel they've basically got enough. DP's said if I don't tell him hat I want hell put the money aside for premium bonds

This was me a few years back.

Finances have changed massively and I could fill an A4 pad with things I need Grin

Hairdressers
Something for the garden
theatre, concert, opera, etc.
Books
.. and the fab one - the man from the oven cleaning company for an hour!

YANBU.

If you don´t need/want, you don´t, & that´s that!

Husband & I rarely buy birthday/Christmas presents for each other.

We just don´t know what to get each other any more.

So tend to "do" something instead.

I'm like this, we don't have much, but I'm not into material possessions the way other people seem to be. Couldn't care less about fashion, face creams, perfumes etc.

The only pleasures for me are good food, holidays, reading (everything comes from the library) and playing piano.

I'm never fussed about receiving presents.

I was stuck for ideas a couple of Christmasses ago so I asked everyone to buy me one of those Oxfam gift aid things instead of a present. Bit disappointed that no one went for the massive box of condoms Grin but I got lots of lovely other things bought on my behalf and it gave me a warm fuzzy smug feeling. And you get fridge magnets.

mountainmonkey · 09/10/2010 10:21

There's no point in him getting you a gift just for the sake of it. I think its lovely that you feel so fulfilled- some people are far too materialistic.

HotSprocket · 09/10/2010 10:29

I feel like that too. Thinking abou it there are things i could ask for but i just don't feel like i really want or need them.

This year my birthday will be easier because i have dd so have just told people i want things her.

Oh actually, i would quite like an ipad Grin would never ask anyone to spend that much money though

Morloth · 09/10/2010 10:39

YANBU, No. More. Stuff.

We just go out for dinner or something now, I like good food and have too much stuff already.

12 hours sleep in a row would be amazing.

bluecardi · 09/10/2010 10:45

How about a day off to relax whilst your dp does everything?

HalfTermHero · 09/10/2010 10:54

Yabvu, lol. I am so high maintenance and materialistic that at times it actually hurts. I can't sleep because I want the next thing so much! I am a victim of our modern times.
