to think that parents should clap and cheer ALL the children at cross country

and not just the ones they know.

80 odd children running cross country and parents standing all round the course but only cheering and clapping for the children they know.

The poor children that were struggling/walking at the back and the parents just turned away or looked at them - why would you not cheer and clap everybody Sad

aw how sad, cross country is gruelling as well

MardyBra · 08/10/2010 19:40

YANBU - I hated cross country at school and was always last. There weren't even any parents there to ignore me

pozzled · 08/10/2010 19:42

YANBU

My ds does quite well so its not even that i feel sorry for him being last but i see all these kids trying so hard and at the back and feel really sorry for them.

I reckon i was one of the only mums shouting and cheering them Sad

dont these parents remember what it was like

YANBU. What a mean spirited lot they must be!

I presume all their children are really good at it and right up the front then?

I was good a cross country (one of the few things I was good at!), but my parents would always stay at the finish line to cheer everyone home, not just the first few.

God, how many kids? You would have sore hands and a sore throat surely? Mind you, I think the only thing as ghastly than cross country running is watching cross country running. Madness.

racmac · 08/10/2010 20:35

Its a local primary school thing where some children from local primary schools attend - after school.

I had to watch - i had to take him there Grin
