Most people have coats on here and about three times I have seen babies in those cocoons. With short sleeves and sometimes short legs and no coats. The mother has a coat however am I missing something do they not need a coat because they get enough heat from their mum?

Do you mean slings/wraps?

I found DS got very hot in our wrap.

BigOfNoorks · 08/10/2010 16:10

No I mean the bag like ones ones you strap to your front I had one on dd but I put a coat on her if it was cold wondering if I was wrong to? I mean it was pissing down one day and the babies little arms were out.

I often think people over dress their little ones. Its easy enough to test temp with a hand at the back of the neck (extremities are usually cold). Most mums err on the too much side so I would imagine they were indeed getting warmth off their parent.

They roast in those things well ds 1 did anyway.
I'm sure they know what they are doing.

I tried explaining that one to my nan and MIL I am not one of these people who think all parts of the baby must be warm so wrap the baby till they have red cheeks Grin.

I guess I must be wrong it was freezing though I had gloves on and surely a long sleeved t,shirt would have been better? I am not being that judgmental and happy for you to tell me I am wrong Smile

Actually I may try mine again then dd does not fit it in her coat but will without and if you say they are warm enough it will make life a lot easier for me thanks Smile

Yeah really warm.

i want an adult one for me!

They do get very warm in those slings, but if they are cold you can tuck their arms back in or wrap your own coat around them. If you put them in a coat before putting them in the sling, they could easily get way too hot. Obviously if it were -10 you would have to wrap them up warmer.

I had mine in one today, she gets really hot so she tends not to be wearing much/as much as she would be in her pram. In fact, we both do!

Thanks ladies I shall definitely give mine a shot Monday on the school run Smile
