To hate cat poo in my garden

It's out the front where we have a hedge, no grass, just earth which I've covered in rose bush clippings and still the manage to do their business here. There must be a solution and I don't mean that roar stuff from the garden centre or getting a pesky cat ourselves. Please what can i do as I HATE cat s*t.

OOOh, snap, I sit in the lounge and watch the neighbours one brazenly do it, hate hate hate it, kids run over it. (if they are not in I scoop it up and lob it back on theirs), hee hee, will watch with interest what works as have tried loads of powders.

NerdyFace · 08/10/2010 14:22

Find out which house in your area the cat belongs to and take a massive dump on their lawn!..See how they like it!

dearprudence · 08/10/2010 14:22

You can get a machine that emits a sort of clicking noise at a frequency that cats don't like. We have a little sandpit under DS's climbing frame and it was basically a cat bog until we bought this machine. Never any problems since.

stripeywoollenhat · 08/10/2010 14:23

i hate that too. unfortunately i own the arsing cats so i don't really get to complain out loud about it.

SweetnessAndShite · 08/10/2010 14:26

... and it stinks! We have a gravel drive and the local cats think it's a litter tray. DH is always treading it in the car (yes, DH not DCs).

Cats also think my new herb garden is an attractive toilet. Uggg.

Haven't tried it but oranges/lemons are supposed to help somehow.

You can get cat repellent in the same places as slug pellets. Just buy some.

you can get cat repellent but the stuff I bought (called something like 'cataway') was useless. Moth balls are supposed to be revolting to cats, and we have had some success with planting a few just under the surface of the soil..... YANBU Cat shit is vile

I do love cats, but hate cats just going where they fancy it. I replaced an area of gravel with pebbles, which they hated, less comfy on the paws, so they stopped going there.

They also detested chilli powder, but we had to keep reapplying...

RandyRussian · 08/10/2010 17:08

Heard somewhere that if you cover the area in tinfoil they avoid it as they don't like the noise when they walk on it.

Depends if you want your garden covered in tinfoil of course! Confused

Itsjustafleshwound · 08/10/2010 17:12

Cayenne pepper sorts them out!!

I loathe cats and they have the tendency to sh*t on our outside lawn, just where my DH wheels his bike .... grrrrr

Laska · 08/10/2010 17:12

I've not found a repellent which works (have tried most commercial / home remedies) and I hate it too. The front of our front garden stinks. I love animals but I'm getting to the point where I could wring their necks! (Don't worry I won't. Can't catch the buggers Wink)

I got a big cheese cat scare for amazon for approx £15 and it is great

MrsC2010 · 08/10/2010 17:14

YANBU, they dig up our plants and veggie patch too. I doubt our neighbour would be quite so laissez faire were one of our two dogs to go over the wall into her garden and shit everywhere while digging up her flowers.

MardyBra · 08/10/2010 17:18

It's kind of one of those no brainer AIBUs.

Do you really imagine that someone will turn up here and say that you are BU?? Grin

RandyRussian · 08/10/2010 17:22

Mind you I can't talk as I've seen our cat nip over the fence to next door carrying a loo roll in one paw and a copy of the Daily meow in the other Grin
