she couldn't sleep last night and had to bring her duvet into our room to sleep on the floor, so I tripped over her when I got out of bed for a wee and banged my wrist on the dressing table?

Eh?

Bloody 'Sign of the Plum Tree' or whatever it's called! About the plague in London or something

This is part of a scheme by the Book Trust ( or something) in which each Year 7 child in the country gets a free novel. They choose themselves from quite a wide selection - I've just taken choices from my own Y7 English class and lots of them chose the book the OP mentions. I think it's a really generous scheme and the books all sounded age- appropriate to me.

I can remember getting American Psycho from the public library when I was about 13. I was so disturbed I wanted to complain, but I was worried they might suspend my adult library card, so suffered PTSD in silence.

I wouldn't just sue, demand a pound of flesh (savvy types would go for a pricey beef or their favourite roast)Wink

I remember my teacher reading a horror book to us - I was 10 or 11. He'd read a chapter a week to keep up the suspense Hmm. It was about a monster living in the mirror. I'm sure it ate a canary at one point and had yellow feathers all round its horrible mouth.

I'm still scared. . .(it was 30 years ago)

My god! Look at all of us traumatised by teenage reading. How about a class action Grin
