to think this is a stupid question

my fault .. i lurked on another site and this post just made me think ??

I'll be 29 weeks on my next doctor's visit (gulp) and he's only now asked me to bring a urine sample. My question is silly but I just got to wondering: my normal drinks intake during the day is varied between milk (lots), juice, sparkling water and one can of ginger ale. Foodwise I do have my two apples a day but I also like some pudding or a digestive biscuit. Now the day before - or days before - do I just drink the eight glasses of normal water and leave out pudding and biscuits to get that nice 'clean' almost clear sample or do I do as normal or does it make no difference?

i once went to the MW at around the same time in my pregnancy - and the day before i had pigged out on jam doughnuts and galaxy chocolate! Blush she gave me a right telling off for my sugar levels!

soooo i would def drink lots of water and try and cut out the biccies for about a day before hand

of course that is summerbirds advice - the MW's advice would be to do that all the time but this is real life!

congrats on your pregnancy! Smile

are you kidding me? They are not doing a pudding audit!! YANBU this is a VSQ

Summerbird73 · 08/10/2010 13:59

oh crap i have just read your post properly and am very Blush

didnt realise you were taking the pish out of another poster on another site. Grin

Rindercella · 08/10/2010 14:02

Why would you cut & paste exactly from another forum? Hmm The OP on the forum you cut from did say in her title "(sorry if silly)".

The only stupid question is the unasked one.

prozacfairy · 08/10/2010 14:05

Better to ask a silly question than to not and instead sit and worry about it.

Im also pregnant and know very little about anything to do with babies and pregnancy, ignorance is bliss for me, however, instead of being incredibly snidey and taking the piss out of someone else from another forum on here, why not say those things to the original poster on the other site? Or better still, give her the benefit of your wisdom and answer her question?

AlgebraKnocksItUpANotchBAM · 08/10/2010 21:12

I don't think any question is really silly.

I used to post on another small parenting forum and somebody asked if they needed to give their EBF baby water as it was so hot. one regular ('AJ') wrote a really rude response, basically "I can't believe you actually need to ask that, don't you know anything..." etc.

however only a few days later she started a thread in a panic because her baby had fallen asleep after having a poo and she wanted to know if she should wake him up to change him Hmm

it's all relative - any question is silly if you already know the answer!

well as the whole point of the test is to find out how your body is coping with your pregnancy on a day to day basis it is stupid to change your (eating) behaviour for the one day in case you get a 'bad' result! This isn't school!! Either your body is coping or you regulate/change your behaviour but 'cheating' a result and then carrying on as normal isn't helping you or baby.
