Now i know many of us were fed up about the whole CB being withdrawn from those over the threshold etc , i was ,but if that meant the Rivens of this world got a bit extra then i wouldnt mind , on the news this morning it said that those getting disability living allowance (might of got that being wrong) will not be getting it if their child is in hospital , because the nhs will be providing for the childs needs .WRONG ,WRONG,WRONG . the nhs will not provide toiletries, laundry facilities ,decent incontinence gear or (unless the child is in ITU) one to one care

It has been this way for a long time.

Is it only a bad thing now the Tories are in power?

If you ever want to know how shit the way parents of disabled and ill children are treated bythe benefits system just get hold of a DLA form and have a look through the sections parents have to fill in details about how long their child is likely to take to die and whatthey think it will be like.

The Dla form made me wantto weep but after reading that section I hoped never to have to look at another one.

Don't blame this shit on the current Govt. It has been this way for a long time and trying to score petty political points of the back of this situation makes me want to vomit.

bumpsoon · 08/10/2010 13:34

I apologise to all those who knew about the DLA already being stopped , not personally knowing anyone who has to claim this means i have limited knowledge. I just felt that after listening to David's speech about how if you are unable to work 'we will look after you' it seems to be a bit hypocritical to then reduce it to 28 days . I will be perfectly honest in that i dont like the conservatives ,but i never liked new labour either

yes of course Pommedeterre, that's exactly what I said Hmm
Your comprehension is as lacking in sophistication as your spelling is poor.

pagwatch · 08/10/2010 13:45

I thought that was what you meant - that wealthy people just inherit it.

My spelling is shit too

Litchick · 08/10/2010 14:03

This has got nothing to do with David Cameron or the cuts.

Please don't hijack Riven's horrid situation to make a party political point.

bumpsoon · 08/10/2010 16:24

But if the conservative party are suggesting reducing it to 28 days then it does have something to do with Cameron, and the more people who know and kick up a fuss ,hopefully we could get something practical done about it . I admit my OP was a bit poor ,but i was seething after watching the news and not at my most eloquent .

Oh stop digging.

I am the mother of a disabled child and I would rather people get invoved to tackle Govt on these issues ands stop using my son as a cheap party politics jibe.
If you want to do something about it join the campaign and don't use our kids. they have enough shit

onceamai · 08/10/2010 18:30

YABU. Bumpsoon - this is a really unkind title for this thread. I think David Cameron and his family probably know rather a lot about caring for a disabled child and also dealing with the grief of losing said child. This is unfair and has little to do with David Cameron personally.

OK so it might well be something new labour were going to do anyway . I have apologised for the title ,i admit it sounds crass . So tell me what i need to do to help the campaign

I agree that your thread title is horribly personal. I think he is well aware of what issues families with disabilities face and you are blaming it on him personally which is incorrect and unfair.

SanctiMoanyArse · 08/10/2010 18:47

Agree it's not new, however when tories do the l;abour could have thing, it will be interesting to see if Tories DO

(the DC / disability didn;t even occur to me- doh)

bumpsoon · 08/10/2010 18:49

Pagwatch ,i loath all politicians and believe they are self serving ,arrogant ,ignorant and strongly suspect that a large percentage are sociopaths ,nothing so far has given me any reason to doubt my beliefs . I wrote the OP because i was disgusted at the idea of people losing money if their disabled child was hospitalised .

Good God. There is no depth too deep for DC to sink to it seems.

Riven - what you have to put up with is dreadful. This needs to be dealt with and support provided for those who need it. If there's a formal campaign happy to support it.

ffs DC is the prime minister, he is in charge now.

SanctiMoanyArse · 08/10/2010 19:35

Don;t need to imagine Riv- been tehre. Ok so ds1 hasn;t got 'severe' SN as such but it was severe enough when I was frequently having to literally cover the boys as things rained on me of an evening

or lock myself in teh bathroom whilst he tried to kick the doors in

Even tonight, ds2 has a lovely dent in his leg from a flying attack.

SSD help? LMAO

borderslass · 08/10/2010 19:41

Riven I've put up with it for years with DS and I've finally admitted to my DR about how I'm feeling feel a big fat failure now, everyone else seems to cope why cant I.
