I am not being unreasonable but know that this is a popular reading place!
I just wanted to put out a big thank you to MNers for their support over the past three months. Baby was hell, undiagnosed silent reflux, first time mum, PND, sleep issues, over anxious etc. He is now treated for his reflux which means he can lie down to sleep without screaming. I am getting meds for my PND and am, in my husbands words, back to myself. And, even though we are in NZ and have no family here, baby is so darned cute he has acquired a foster granny who takes him one day and one night a week. Life is great.

What fantastic news Athrawes! I'm so pleased for you. A foster granny, what a brilliant idea, I could do with one.

Hurrah! Don't know if I posted on your threads before but so glad you've got it all sorted and feel better - love that you have a foster granny! that's great.

If you are in NZ, do come over and join us on the thread that never sleeps - lots of overseas/different timezoners on there. :)

Cracking news.

Congrats, Athrawes, that's great news. So good to hear from you!

As for a foster-granny, I am Envy. Much as I love my little man, I do miss having GPs nearby - can't remember the last time I had a day off! What's the secret? Is there a foster-grannies.co.nz website? Wink

I acquired a foster granny by having a total melt down, sending my husband to work and phoning both the mental health nurse and the local emergency foster carer (a friend). Between the two if them it took four hours to get me to stop rocking and give them the baby. Granny took the baby for the day and offered to take him once a week thereafter. He is safe, surrounded by her young foster family so getting valuable socialisation, and I get a day a week to be me, and my husband gets his wife back for dinner once a week. I really think if you have a reflux baby that respite care should be an essential service.
