Has anyone noticed how they seem to ensure the camera seems to be smeared with Vaseline whenever they focus in on her bum?

anonymousbird · 08/10/2010 09:54

She is just utterly cringeworthy.

But, other than that gopping looking "crustless pizza" I loved the recipes last night. DH just keeps commenting on her bosoms.... not in a vulgar way, just in a kind of "wow" way! Normally I would be a bit Hmm about DH commenting on another woman's knockers for half an hour, but because she is almost "unreal", like a cartoon character living on Planet La La, IYSWIM, i don't mind. It's quite funny!

I did resolve to seek out some of her recipes on line and print for my recipe folder....... as annoying as she is, I am kind of hooked in now.

DiscoSquish · 08/10/2010 09:55

That's so we can't see the Spanx outline Grin

I used to like her, then I bought a couple of her books. They are crap. And the simpering makes me want to ram them up her arse sideways. That would wipe the silly smile off her face.

NL3 · 08/10/2010 09:55

Loved the Kitchenaid (Candy Apple Limited Edition y'know) and will be trying the gnocchi. She has overdone the botox but is vastly amusing; we chuckled our way through it!

anonymousbird · 08/10/2010 09:56

sugarlake Tick in her ear!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

Our DDog recently had this, and I entirely agree!!!!

Ha ha. That made my morning. Grin

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 08/10/2010 09:56

Believes her own hype spings to mind tbh

shinybootsofleather · 08/10/2010 09:57

I tend to watch it to see what ridiculous comment she will come out with next. I do like the recipes though. The poached chicken last week was brilliant. I haven't seen this week's episode but have recorded it. The classic line from last week's episode was about the "inner thigh wobble" of cheesecake wasn't it?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 08/10/2010 10:11

I bloody well missed it last night. I hope it will be on iplayer today - so I can see the celery in the vase etc!

I have cooked some of her recipes - the whole family loves her sticky bbq ribs, and most of us love the clementine cake too - though it needs cooking for much longer than she says in the book. I tried doing that baking in the evening thing, and ended up having to stay up until gone midnight, waiting for the bloody thing to come out of the oven.

CerealOffender · 08/10/2010 10:16

roar @ 'autumn watch'

dd saw it last night for the first time she said incredulously 'that lady thinks the food is her boyfriend, "oh beautiful food mwah mwah"'

she also couldn't believe the celery in the jar thing.

i love the show, i love nigella

CerealOffender · 08/10/2010 10:25

i then watched hugh fearnly whatever shoveling in his food adn loved the comparison.

who can watch him eat without thinking of the hungry wee schoolboy breaking into the school kitchen at night and shoving his face into the leftovers with gravy dripping down his frightened little face

cornflowers · 08/10/2010 10:30

Actually, I believe the lamb steaks were described as 'permissive' rather than promiscuous Blush
The gnocchi annoyed me, though! I've been frying them in olive oil like that for years, is especially yum with a little diced pancetta. She stole MY invention!
Also, the very thought of casually whipping up a cointreau trifle whilst nibbling toast in a perfectly orderly kitchen before the school run left me feeling, um, deeply inadequate.

Malificence · 08/10/2010 11:14

As much as he likes staring at enjoying Nigella's lucsiousness, DH is a massive Hugh FW fan , so he just pervs at Nigella during the break on River Cottage.

I couldn't care less, I hate cooking, I just wish I had Nigella's boobs (I have her hips already Smile ) .

coraltoes · 08/10/2010 11:23

i;d hate to be her guest...portions always look tiny (p'raps she has eaten most of the ingredients during the cooking?)

darksideofthemooncup · 08/10/2010 11:23

I second the pinny thing, but only because I couldn't look at her frying stuff in that lovely grey dress without cringing at the thought of all the fat spatters that it would doubtless be covered with.

Mind you, she is loaded so she probably laughs in the face of fat splatters (in a slightly detached, unhinged way of course)

the dress was magnificent

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 08/10/2010 11:41

You have a good point there, darkside. I don't wear a pinny very often, but gather all sorts of stains on my clothes - invariably spoiling my favourite ones. Sad

But does this teach me to wear an apron more often? Does it heck as like! Blush

NonnoMum · 08/10/2010 20:10

Coming back to the "must be actors" friends of hers eating her messy fanjolinas, why, of course they must be actors, one of them was,

ahem,

"northern".

Proof that they couldn't be her real friends...

Still think Bruno is v v sweet, and loved that he came in and got on with his homework straight away. Would he like to be a motivational speaker to the kids round 'ere?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 15/10/2010 22:05

I will be making her spaghetti with marmite - it sounds lovely.

jonicomelately · 15/10/2010 22:07

This sounds awfully bitchy and I really don't mean it in this way but she's done very well to recover from the terrible daytime show she did on ITV.

wasabipeanut · 15/10/2010 22:14

Brand Nigella has got way out of hand. I have a much loved copy of How to Eat which doesn't even have any pictures of her or the food and its just the most fabulous cookbook I own. And I own a lot.

She's turned into a camp caricature and I think her recipes have suffered for it - it's all about indulgence rather than just nice family food.

Shame really.

BelligerentGhoul · 15/10/2010 22:15

Spaghetti with Marmite? Good God - what IS this travesty?

wasabipeanut · 15/10/2010 22:15

I still think she could turn me though.

KirstyJC · 15/10/2010 22:17

I just can't get over her always cooking in her jacket...I mean, it's not like it's cold in her kitchen, with all those fairy lights on it must be like a blast furnace in there!!

But every episode shows her walking about in cosmopolitan streets, laughing with other attractive people whilst wearing in a jacket / coat, then walking into the house and straight into the kitchen to cook. Without taking her blimmin jacket off!!!

BelligerentGhoul · 15/10/2010 22:19

Agree re: the jacket thing. I can't watch her because I just want to strangle her for keeping her jacket on in the kitchen. Revolting.
