to wish I had thought this through a bit more before I filled the upstairs with noxious fumes

I have plans for something I am making for Christmas and I wanted to move to the next stage while DD was out of the way at Guides.

The next stage involves spraying several coats of acrylic varnish.

Anyway I did this in our bedroom then a few minutes later realised that the fumes are dreadful. I opened our bedroom window but then panicked because it had got out on to the landing and in to the room where the guinea pig lives. I have moved the guinea pig now to a place of safety but the upstairs still reeks of it.

DD will be home in 10 minutes. I can't think of a casual explanation as to why the house smells so bad and the guinea pig has taken up residence in the guest room.

And will DH and I be poisoned in our beds?

I would be more worried about the guinea pig than you or DH. They are a bit fragile arent they. How long was piggy breathing in fumes before you moved it?

Never mind all that - I want to know what you're up to young lady!!

Hardly any time at all - and she was in the plastic cave all that time so it might not have got to her.

Mowiol It isn't all that exciting, really it isn't.

I found this paper for making your own decals from an inkjet printer and I decided to personalise some items for stocking fillers e.g. egg cups with the recipients photo and name on.

However, inkjet ink is water based apparently so you have to spray the print out with several layers of varnish before you try to use it.

Ooh get you being all arty AND christmassy and its only October. Damn you, driving up standards...

Mowiol · 06/10/2010 20:39

Ooh - sounds like fun!! And lovely for wee stocking fillers.

As you were!

Hmm. I would hold off on the "standards" until I see how it turns out! I am not really all that arty and I have never tried anything like this before.

The egg cups were only 75p though! If it works it will be a bargain. Though the special paper costs £1.55 per A4 sheet plus p+p.....

piggy will no doubt be fine. Love how yours lives in the house. I wish mine did
